Can anyone tell me if a 215 series tire will fit on a stock GT rim?

Where to start......
Yes that tire will fit on the stock 6.5" wide GT rim without any significant safety issues. It will have a significant amount of tire bellying out past the rim however.
However whether that size tire will fit on your vehicle depends on the vehicle. What is it? That tire size is taller and wider than the stock tire. Your speedometer will read low and there may be rubbing issues if you are putting it on a stock height Legacy.
205/55-16 Height = 24.88"
215/55-16 Height = 25.31" +.43"
215/50-16 Height = 24.46" - .42"

You'll be good to go. 215 is probably the most you'll want to go on width though without having to worring about rubbing.

I have a 99 GT legacy
its stock height....stock springs/struts
i had a lower'd 98 GT, with 205's and it rubbed alot!
thats why i was asking...
hmm yeah i forgot about tire height.. seems like the 50s might be better to go with.... anyone else got any other info... thanks for your help so far... i'll wait for more info before i drop the $$$ for em.
any ideas on ride feel? better worse? gas mileage... trans life.... any other crap gonna be messed up?

whoa.... 225s on a legacy... whats your gas mileage?
any slower acceleration? You have to have some sort of negative effect?
