Exclamation 205/55's on 16x8?

I know it is a stretch... but i was wondering if this would work... I have seen some mounted, but wanted to make sure (low fundage makes a full wheel/tire combo imposible, so I know that 225 or 235's would be better... but...)

Looking at spec's on Tirerack.com the widest recomended wheel for a 205/55-16 is 7.5".

IMO it would make the sidewalls way too vertical to the point where the tire would have a limited range of side to side movement. A better fit would be a 225/50-16 which has the same overall diameter as the 205/55.

16x8 is too wide. 7.5" is pushing it.

if its 16x8 i would run 235 or 225. i got 225/40 with 18x8.5 and i wish i got like 235 or 245 instead. you dont want it to look like the rim is wider than the tire like mines is. dont want you to make the same mistake. here is how the side wall would we be:

4.429 - 225/50
4.625 - 235/50
4.163 - 235/45
4.340 - 245/45

but the '05 sti come with 225 for the width and it looks pretty flush on 17x8 rims. but i would try go with the 235. if want to put on some 245 its almost as close to the 225/50

225 is a minium width, not ideal. 235 is best and 245 is good on 8" wide too.
