2002 wrx rims for auto x

Hey guys-

I have decided that I need to go wider. I'm thinking about either a 17X7, 7.5, or 8...which width will fit?

Also, what is the widest tires I can go? 245?

I have koni yellow inserts with swift springs. These rims will strictly be for auto x.

I've put a 235 width tire on a 17x7.5. Currently running a 235 on a 17x8. 245 will also fit on a 17x8. I've seen people squeeze 245's on a 17x7.5, but it is mushrooming.

It all depends. Also depends on what class you are running. If you are running a Street touring class, your max width on the wheel is 8", and a 245 tire. Street prepared class, you can go any width wheel and tire.

For auto-x, you do not want to oversize the tire for the rim width. This creates a softer sidewall, and on a sharp turn will actually decrease your initial bite as the "fat" on the inside of the tire has to be dragged to the outside of the rim. Many people actually stretch their tires (run NARROWER widths) to avoid this slop at the edge of the rim.

I've learned from the (somewhat) local fitment master (karlton) that anything can fit. I can show you the light if you want.

I'm talking about 17x9.5 on your bugeye. With 255 or 265 tires.

Anything can fit man.

I think the limit on the stock GD body is like a 10.5 wide wheel with a +20 offset...Assuming like a 295 tire.
