Have you priced the tires you're going to need for those 19" wheels, assuming that you are prepared to roll your fenders, add lift (not drop) to your suspension and accept an offset that will kill your wheel bearings? If you go above 16", the price for tires rises exponentially because sizes over that are quite rarely used.

I've seen two WRXs here in town on 18"s, and they were an extremely tight fit; neither one could go over a speed bump without bottoming the tires out on the inside of the wheel well. 19"s are just a recipie for disaster, unless you're willing to lift the car slightly.

stiffer springs, and high dampeing shocks? doe sthat sound right? i would think that would help i guess for the banging the fenderwalls but the ride would be probable horrible over here right coast

I have a set of 19 inch axis mod sevens (axiswheels.com) on my '02
Pros
-Non stop looks and props whether at a red light or on the highway
-You can still stay slammed (will explain more in con's[don't worry]) my greddy front lip is about 4 inches off the ground
-The lip on my wheels are huge and shiny because of the way they are made
-The feeling you get knowing yours are bigger than everyone elses (worth every penny)

Cons
-There is no performance gain in fact most weigh more than factory
-Learn how to drive at angles
-Buy some glasses you'll learn how to watch for every lil bump
(quick lesson on 19's, tires aren't cheap, they're real thin so you can easily blow one or put a nasty dent in your wheel)
-you will have to shave your fenders unless you plan on riding really high
(I have ground control coil overs, my front is slammed as low as they will go and i have no problems with them whatsoever, now the rear are almost all the way down before i shaved the fenders they were cutting into the tires nasty, but after i shaved them very rarely will i hear them rub.

If your'e worried about performance loss you might want to think about it. But if you like compliments 24/7 and like standing out 19's are the way to go trust me when you roll up next to a truck on 20's, because your tire is so much thinner than his your wheels actually look bigger.
