16x7 48mm offset okay for wagon?

I am thinking of picking up a set of 16x7 Rota Slipstreams with a 48mm offset and 225/50/16 tires for my 2002 wrx wagon. I am planning on using this set up for autocross and perhaps other race events such as road coarsing in the future.

Is this offset okay? A thread over on NASIOC says 50-53 is good for a 7" rim. I dont want to wear down my wheel bearings by running the wrong offset. I'm concerned about that because I will be driving on these rims and tires VERY hard as they are only for racing.

I was also wondering: Will this setup rub at all on a stock suspension? How much can I lower the car before I experience rubbing issues? I am concerned since there is less clearance on the wagon.

you might have some problems w/ the 225's. I haven't seen this setup, I would say try it and let us know. I have the STI takeoff wheels w/ 225/45/17's on my wagon. You won't have to worry about bearings but might have a little rubbing inthe rear.

bigskywrx over on clubwrx.net is the wagon god, and he runs 16x8 i belive with 225 S-03s on his wagon I am not sure of the offset though, There is a Project wagon thread that he has kept upto date in the suspension subforum. I am sure that it has the info you are looking for.

I've been talking with Big Sky and he thinks it will work. It seems as though it will be close. I know it will be okay for everyday driving, but I am not sure how it will work for auto-x driving really hard.

I wish more people had these rims so I could know for sure....
