WTB: 2002 WRX AT - Tranny

Unhappy WTB: 2002 WRX AT - Tranny

If anyone has an AT they're selling, or know someone who's selling a 2002 WRX AT Tranny, let me know ASAP.

I have a 2002 WRB WRX (AT), and the tranny decided to start flaking on me . It's at a little over 120K miles, so I'm not too surprised. What's happening is that when I get on the freeway and exceed 3000 RPMs, I get a grinding sound from the engine compartment followed by a loud pop. Gino at GB Motorsports says it could be a linkage problem since the guys couldn't find any broken bolts, and the bell housing was clean. So I've begun my research on figuring out which of the 2 scenarios - salvaging the AT, or getting a new/used one would be more cost effective. From what I'm finding so far, it breaks about even.

how much were you lookin to spend on it?

mine was taken out of my car and replaced with a manual at about 65k miles. Nothing wrong with it, I just wanted a manual. Located near Monterey.

You need to be careful. The gearing between different 4EAT's in different applications have different gearing. Take for example the 2.5RS. I believe that the early 2.5RS has a 4.11 final gear, while the later ones have a 4.44 final gear.
