Vishnu Reflash Special

Is Vishnu offering any end of/close to end of summer/dyno movng reflash specials? I would really like to get a reflash, but have a very light wallet at the moment.

This would be a good way to get a group of people in to get a reflash, and then we would get some extra required tuning to be running at the fullest potential of the reflash.

A very good business discount offer if you ask me

Vishnu - Please remember that a good deal of your business is from word-of-mouth. The more reflashes you do, the more word of mouth, and in turn more business. I can see it now....A good quantity of cars just lined up ready for the reflash (register is cha-chingin') and then the group goes out and spreads good words around town and on the forums. This then causes a ton of others to get hyped and ready to go down to Vishnu to get their reflash done.

Not to mention that Vishnu will still have the original group coming back for tuning, and while we are there, I am sure some other products would catch our attention!

So Vishnu.........Will this be a Go or Woe!

Actually, I have a question for Shiv or the Vishnu staff - Do you require a customer to get a reflash before getting the custome tune done? Can we just come in and get custom tuning done without the reflash?

You first need the Ecutek software, then he custom tunes you....if thats what you want. If you have no engine management, then you have to pay for the reflash (ecutek) $650 & the custom tune ~$200.

The only way to just get custom tuning done would be if you already have an Ecutek'd ECU and Shiv just custom tunes it. OR if your car has an XEDE already, then Shiv just custom tunes the XEDE for about ~$200.

what are the benefits/ drawbacks of reflash?

HP/ TQ / Gas Mileage

Is the Ecutek a generic upgrade: tunes for up/down pipe & catback or only d-pipe and catback? (intake)

Is it the custom tune that takes care of specifc parts: combo of the above? combo of different brand parts?

you get all the benefits and no drawbacks with a reflash (ecutek) ......except that the reflash does not have multiple maps, the XEDE does.

Vishnu has base maps for various combos, octane, etc, which will work for any combination of up/dp, catback, etc. The custom tune 99% of the time just nets you more HP/TQ over the basemaps.

If you are just driving normal (ie, not WOT all the time) the reflash will get you better gas mileage....heck, even WOT you will get better gas mileage, as it is slightly leaner than factory.

The Ecutek is basically only a software program that is used to reflash the ecu, right? And the Xede is an actual hardware item, right?

wow, Vishnu should be paying me to answer these questions :-)

Ecutek and COBB currently reflash the stock ECU. The XEDE is a "piggyback" unit that works with the stock ECU and adds offsets to the ECU. The stock ECU is untouched when used with the XEDE.

If there is hardware involved you are either manipulating/working with the stock ECU, perhaps even replacing it (XEDE, Hydra,UTEC). The ECUTEK is basically a "revision" similiar to the Cobb. The Cobb Accessport is a generic map that is "revised" onto the stock ECU via handheld devise (possibly computer if you have AccessTuner). With ECUTEK you are paying for liscensing rights and in my opinion it is better than Cobb. Here's my .02 on ratings:
1. Element Tuning Hydra
2. XEDE (because of the multiple map opinion)
3. ECUTEK
4. Cobb
5. UTEC
