Heat street tires?
Is it going to help to heat up street tires. I know that slicks HAVE to be hot in order to get any traction. If they're cold it would be like driving on a wet surface. But street tires are made of a different compound. I think I read somewhere that it's useless to do the burn out.

There are two reasons for doing a burnout:
1) to heat the tires to make them tacky
2) to clean any debri off of the tires, ie rocks, pebbles, small bits of rubber, etc.
Many people do a "dry hop" after their burnout, which is what the "little burnout" is you were seeing. Many argue that it really doesn't do anything useful. As mentioned, w/ a street tire compound, it is actually detrimental to do a nice long smoky burnout. The best thing to do is to drive around the water box, and quickly roll the tires over to clean the debri off of them.

All you tools posting about how the guys burnouts suck: if you burn out with street tires they just get more slippery. With a street compound tire, a couple of small cycles are only needed to clean gravel/debris on the tire and that is all.
You burnout with DOT drag tires or Slicks because they get stickier when hot...they don't just melt and get slippery like normal street tires.

thought I'd jump on the bandwagon:
i few quick skids will get the debris off of the street tires, no need to burn them out
c6z06 is a beast either way you look at it, and they look sweet too...even the headlights.
