well the 70hp difference comes from a different turbo and tuning in the sti. both are 2.5 liter motors...shoot, if i was to get an 06 anything...it'd be the wrx and not the sti b/c u basically got the same powerplant...just need a better turbo and u will have power like an sti...so ya, its an sti motor, just not turbo and bigger tmic etc...

Back to the video now. Everyone is raggin on her as if she claimed this was a great run. All it is is a video of an STI doing a pretty slow run. Why do you say she's a terrible driver? For all you know it's her first time racing the car, or it's got problems, really anything is possible. Everyone (sorry not everyone) with a WRX or STI thinks they are the best drivers in the world and everyone else with a Subaru better learn to drive better than average. Shut up and leave the girl alone.

Not a LOT different, and virtually no difference in power when tuned properly.

I'm not sure what the big deal is. It's not like she jumped out of the car doing backflips and claiming to be a professional racer. If you guys wanna run around videotaping everybody who runs a bad time in an STI (at high altitude no less), then you've got a lot of work ahead of you.

It's this kind of behavior that discourages people from becoming involved in cars and motorsports. If you want to be an *******, then that's fine, but don't go around ragging on people that are trying to learn something.

You're talking about insults, yet you spent $30k and are HOPING for 450+WHP? Hmmmm, I wonder who really looks bad.....

Sounds like an insult to your "hard-earned cash."

She's 16. She bought a car she couldn't afford, and warranty didn't cover the irresponsibility. She needed a motor and went with the cheapest thing she could afford. Such is life. She now has one hell of a "WRX."

Well said! And besides, you're right! WHO CARES? MOST of us go to the track for fun, and not as some contest to see who's the fastest. If you wanna compete, compete in the money races.

I know the girl who you guys speak of. She isn't as bad as you guys make her out to be. Not everyone has the ficianical wealth of Sti Racing over here, so you gotta make due with what you got. I sure do wish I had $30,000 just to dump into a car. Not everyone drives like Michael Schumacher either.

Well your right, --- it was her very first run.
It was run at 5800 ft altitude and she never made any claim it was anything more than her first run and she is working on improving.

Most of you quite frankly have no clue at all.
It is pretty typical for folks to make a first run that is quite tentative and about 2 seconds slower than the car is capable of.

Talking crap about someone you don't even know, and about a situation you only know bits and pieces about, is what Junior high school kids do --- Geeze guys grow up!

gijow is one of the few folks in this thread that is acting like an adult.

It's just really sad to see how much value people put on being fast. Racing, just like anything else, should be about fun and excitement, not about looking cool and impressing everyone. If i ever took my RS to the 1/4 mile I don't think I would push it as hard as I could. I want my car to last a long time, and If I can go and have fun without destroying my car, that's what I'm going to do. Unfortunatly, if i did take my car to the track I'm sure that I would get nothing but crap about how crappy of a driver I am because my RS didn't run as fast as it possibly could.
Let's all just enjoy the sport and hobby of owning a car. If you race, have fun and be safe. If you customize, again have fun and do your own thing, not matter how "rice" someone says it is. If you take the time to actually talk to these people who you all bad mouth, I think you'll see that they are pretty cool people with different ideas and motivation for doing what they do with THEIR cars.

Maybe some people are just out for a fun night and it's a legal place to go fast. Some people have new motors in their vehicles and are simply breaking them in. This happens quite often with race motors. People make trips to the track numerous times and take the car up to speed, yet not beat on it, just to get the rings seated. You never know the motivation behind someone's reason for being at the track.

For the record, I don't even race my car, yet I'm at the track all the time. I just enjoy the atmosphere and talking with the other drivers about their mods and how they have either benefited or not benefited their cars. Not to mention, I'd rather see an American Muscle Car over an import any day. There's nothing like the sight and sound of a '71 Chevelle with a 454 big block smoking up the tires in the burnout box.
