Well nice work by the SRT4 DRIVER I wouldn't say it was much to do with the car being an SRT4 or a WRX because aren't the touring cars suppossed to be equipped to perform about the same?

WRX carries a whole bunch of extra weight because of AWD. No wonder SRT pulls away on the straights.

the WRX is a cobb stage 2 IIRC, Brian Lock is the driver.

neon srt-4 curb wieght is 2970 lbs.
impreza WRX curb wieght is 3085 lbs.

strip interior, spare tire, add roll cage, plastic windows, and driver.
+/- mods like brakes, suspension, wheels.

Whats the difference?

WRX carries penalty weight for the AWD. When Sheehan drove the car, with bigger brakes, more penalty weight was added. I bet the weight difference is no less than 300 lbs.

your car has some advantage or something like that to where it would give you some kind of edge, they try to make things fair by weighng you down some. AWD>FWD
