I always thought rally racing was exciting, but that ending was ****ing insane, ive never seen anything like it. Kind of like a last second field goal or a walk off home run, in racing form. I bet the crowd was loving it.. cant believe he was like a half second off from winning it.

McRae was much smoother than Pastrana... He apexed tightly and tracked all the way out of the turns like he's driven a thousand laps on the course. The line and the way he slid the car through the hairpin (the circle) was incredible...
For comparison, Pastrana's run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjqAekNzfcw

The more I look back on it the more I think Colin was just toying with everyone all week, his first stage out at Hungry Valley was driven VERY conservativly so he could spend the rest of the day reeling Travis in without having to take any risks at all.
He knew he could have walked away with the win on the SS so he hung it out a bit at the end for the sake of "Xtreme factor" knowing he'd either take second and get the most airplay or even still possibly win with that spectacular roll thrown in.
No way he could come up to Travis' double backflip, but a roll on the SS and only dropping a couple seconds was a pretty amazing feat in itself.
Sure made for a good show in any case.

Thought the coverage of the rally event was great. Love the camera angles and the camera track down the straights.
Nicely done and an amazing showing by all the drivers. Especially the roll

Colin should have his hands full with his new car company;

and the few special events like this that he's invited to do.

well....
actually in the WRC most of the cars could have taken a roll like that and been pretty much fine. I've seen Gronholm roll heavier than that in his Pugeot and keep right on truckin'.
Nice drive by Colin tho, you gotta hand it to the man he put on a show for the camera (cause goodness knows those were not the fastest lines he was taking on the asphalt part of the course).
