Muay Thai vs. Taekwondo Pt.2
A follow up to the last thread
Looks like someone didn't care for that footage and shot a "counterpoint" video haha: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...29&q=Muay+Thai
I'd take it with a grain of salt, once again

lol everytime the taekwondo guy was gonna strike, the other dude would just chop down his legs. taekwondo has some pretty cool looking techniques, but muay thai is much more effective. i mean, look at capoeira... it looks awsome but is it an effective self defense tool?

It's like they say, Taekwondo sacrifices power for speed and precision (and cool looks to boot). I keep saying that with a bit of evolution, there's a lot going for TKD IMHO
Neither of those guys have a clue. His hands down stance gives away the fact that he's woefully unexperienced. Red belt equals two years max. He sure caught a hot one to the left kidney though.
There are places where TKD has evolved by the way

heres shaolin monk vs TKD pro.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...lin+monk+fight
notice how the shaolin monk is very loose but snaps hard.
Bruce Lee: "Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend."

You can tell it's a TKD event

A red belt is just below black in TKD. If you can make red belt in two years, then you're either REALLY talented, or you're attending a McDojang.

I'd say that w/o gauging a fighter, Muay Thai combined with BJJ is a pretty damn good combination IMHO
Full on Muay Thai BTW: https://www.i-club.com/forums/videos-142/buakaw-por-pramuk-thailands-kickboxing-hero-brief-classical-muay-thai-lesson-123187/ and https://www.i-club.com/forums/videos-142/muay-thai-bonanza-123190/

But, most urban, malicious aggressors use guns, knives or force in numbers. Neither, muay thai, jiujitsu, nor TKD will be completely effective is this scenario.
On a side note, that TKD red belt is a joke. There are McDojos all over the country turning out prepubescent, 12 year old black belts. Some people open minimarts, liquor stores, donut shops, dry cleaners... others open dojos.
