Sometimes its not a question of being cheaper as it is for the Engine to take the power.. unlike some other cars ..

Its always going to be cheaper when you have a proven engine platform that has probably the largest showing of worldwide aftermarket tuner support and have been around for over 10 years.
I wouldn't bad mouth the STI 2.5 just yet. Give it 5 years and we will see what tuners figure out. Maybe SOA will release a cast iron version of the 2.5 turbo

"EJ22T > EJ25T"
I agree wholeheartedly. Infact I have two EJ22t motors and transes
One will be built on the stand while the other is installed in my 95l to tide me over.
Unfortunitely the EJ22t isn't fully cast iron. However it is medium pressure cast and closed deck making it much stronger then any motor subaru currently has out. However it does need and aftermarket set of Forged Pistons and a heftier set of Forged Rods to keep the motor together at high revs and high boost.

Oh yeah, in total there were 788 Turbo Legacys made. So even though this car has been out for quite some time there hasn't been really any tuner base for this engine setup until recent days when people began to realize what we had sitting in our junkyards all this time. You can order a brand new shortblock from SOA for about $1300 as well
I prefer a well broken in model to rebuild and mod.
