Cool just got tunned

i have a 2005 STI with Helix catless TBE DP wrapped, Gruppe-s headers coated, Titek up-pipe coated, AP ver2, 255 fuel pump, GP moto silencer delete, After MAF hose, and a couple of other silicone hoses. i am only making 293 FT-Lbs @ 3750 RPM and 249 HP @ 5750 RPM. i also know that my turbo is cracked so i am wondering what i should do. get a new/used stock VF39/VF43 or go for a 18g/20g but the thing is i dont have alot of money since its around the holidays. let me know your opinion on my problem. thanks for your thoughts.

It is pretty low but concidering the car would only make 11psi from 5800rpms on it's surprising it made that much.

Hey, I think I met you once, sold you an sti trunk if I remember? Our cars looked basically the same (05 White STI w/Gold BBS). I'm making 254hp and 292tq on that same dyno with a turbo back exhaust on my sti. Your best bet would probably be to get a used turbo for the time being then upgrade down the road. Cheaper and you can always just resell the turbo when you pick up a new one.

have you checked for boost leaks? Are you running the stock boost control solenoid? I doubt it would be the solenoid, and if it were I am sure Mike would know, but jsut throwing it out there

Since you have headers, an uppipe, and some replaced silicone hoses, I HIGHLY recommend getting under your car and rechecking all pre turbo connections. Hell, check post turbo as well, since you probably have to unbolt the downpipe to get to the uppipe. Also check for cracked headers...they are gruppe-S after all

Do you have what sounds like an exhaust leak? To be held at 11 psi would take a big leak, but ya never know. I am sure it would push more, but not reliable boost.

Have you actually seen the crack? I have trouble holding boost as well (although not as bad as you it seems) so I also thought my turbo was cracked. I removed my DP and looked and it was not cracked at all. I diagnosed it to just be my OEM WG actuator/BCS after I played around with a helper spring VERY carefully just to figure out what was going on. I'll loan you my helper spring if you want to try it. You WGDCs are probably 90.2 (100%) so you'll know right away if your BCS is causing/contributing to the problem.

Is there something wrong with driving around with a cracked turbo?
