hello,
will this clutch / flywheel combo fit the sti six speed also ? How does this clutch compare to the exedy twin plate in your opinion ?

Both Clutches are great.

Exedy is a standard design and the HKS GD Max is the gear type clutch.

The main advantage is that the HKS clutch can be considered a "semi-twin-plate". That is because the 2 plates do not engage simultaneously. Instead, the first disk gets engaged with the flywheel surface first, then the second disk gets engaged.

What is the mechanical philosophy behind that design ? Does the staged engagement decrease drivetrain shock forces by allowing a bit of slippage to occur ?

My guess it that it's the monster 310LPH pump.
