Cobb Original Series 2.5L Race Block w/ Pics!
Cobb Original Series 2.5L Race Block w/ Pics!
Hi,
I tried selling this block earlier in the year, only to change my mind and keep it. I was going to have it rebuilt but again, funds aren't allowing this to happen. So I'm trying to pass off the offer to you again. Cash talks, I don't like to hold dibs.
The Good:
Here's a link to Cobb's website listing the features of the block. Here is a quick copy of the more important parts.
Recommended up to 550HP and up to 25psi of boost pressure in street use.
Our 2.5L Turbo Short Block features:
EJ25 Phase II High Pressure Die Cast Short Block (2.5L Displacement)
Strong Billet 4340 Steel Connecting Rods
Custom 100mm Turbo Forged Aluminum Pistons (8.5:1 CR)
Heavy-Duty Chromoly Piston Pins
Anti-Friction Piston Skirt Coating
Ceramic Piston Crown Coating
Turbo Specific Piston Rings
Modified Forged Chromoly Crankshaft (79mm Stroke)
Fully-Closed Deck modification
Wire-Ringed Cylinder Deck
Computerized Balance of rotating assembly
Specially Machined Block w/ improved oil and water passages
Please note these blocks are designed specifically to be used with your WRX DOHC Cylinder Heads.
The Bad:
The motor has a spun rod bearing. I'm not sure how it happened becasue I bought the motor from a friend with the intention of rebuilding it. It is going to need at least new bearings, and everything else seems to be in good working order. I was told by Cobb that it could cost as little as $700 to get this block rebuilt. Does not come with any gaskets. Those will have to be sourced through Cobb.
Price is at $1800 plus shipping FIRM
I'd be willing to ship to Cobb directly for the rebuild, or where ever you would like. Please keep in mind that this is Cobb's ball's out, full race motor. It just needs a little TLC thrown it's way.
The Pics:
Sorry for the condition of the pics, it's is take with poor lighting and with only my 1.3Mb camera phone. I can't seem to find my digi camera at the moment. If you are having trouble with the pics, post your email and I'll send them that way.
