I'm looking at some stuff that I want to get from Japan and I've never imported anything b4. Is there customs and duties that will be added on top of my package when entering?

i actually work in the logistics field. there are duties and taxes that have to be paid. depends on what the items are. there are usually no duties for car parts but there are taxes. DHL, UPS and all those carriers usually take care of all that. if you go with a private shipping company, they'll charge you for customs brokerage fees, handling fees and a whole lot of other fees. if it's a small shipment, i'd say use one of the big guys. hope this helps.

Also, make sure you double check the shipping rates before you commit to buy. The cost can be very surprising. I also suggest keeping to the major carriers for anything smaller than an engine.
