WTF Government????

I know this will get moved but I'd rather talk to my fellow bay area folks.

I just read that the Obama campaign raised $52,000,000 in JUNE ALONE.

WTF? Why do you need that much money for tv spots and pieces of paper... oh yeah and private planes all over the country. Top hotels. New suits. I forget it costs 50 million dollars a month to become president. This is bull****.

Where are these people donating millions of dollars at when our education system needs money? Or disaster victims need their houses rebuilt or their medical bills paid. Where are these huge donations to public causes that people take for granted? Oh yeah I forgot... rich people don't give a ****.

I tell you what... you want to get some votes... take that $52 million dollars and divide it between the 50 states and tell them to put it in the education system. I mean if you care about the future and all. Mr. big dreamer.

Sorry many folks are gonna be pissed about this and I'm sure it'll be moved to politics in minutes but screw it. We're hosed. We got the war monger big money next bush republican who at least is a realist and the golden boy first black man I have a dreamer who's gonna be the next JFK. What a choice. A guy that'll do what he says but it might do us no good and a guy that's blowing smoke up our *** and won't do anything he says. Yeah.

I hate politics. We're so damn backwards right now.

I'm no economist or financial analyst - but I'd have to say it has to do with trickling down the line of workers. It costs money to campaign - some people are pretty retarded and don't even know who Obama is, then there are those that think Obama and Osama are the same guy. *shrug* That's just how I see it.

Sorry but damn. We're on our way to some serious problems. The wider the division of wealth gets the deeper isht we're in as a country.

just blows me away how people can have HUNDREDS of millions of dollars and just sit on it or be obsessed with getting more. I kid you not... if I had $100 million in the bank and a steady business... which is small time in the world of the rich... I'd be helping out my local schools and buying houses or helping people buy houses that I knew. These people idea of sharing their wealth is taking their already rich *** friends out on their new plane to their new house in the hamptons. It's sad.

MOST of the people working for these campaigns are VOLUNTEERS. And the percentage of VOTERS that don't know who Obama is or think he's Osama or won't vote for him because he's black is RIDICULOUSLY small. We're talking voters here. They don't care about non voters and backwoods hicks. VOTERS count. He is going to win by one of the largest landslides we've seen in the last 50 years. He has nothing to worry about and really doesn't need a couple hundred MORE dollars to spend on commercials. This is $52 million in ONE MONTH not for his entire campaign.

While Obama won the money race earlier, Clinton was quickly catching up, and was projected to surpass Obama by mid spring of '07. Damn, the democrats made a crap load of money.

who cares about clinton?

Throw this out there though... Republicans have a reported $95,000,000 in the bank.

Not sure why it costs a couple hundred million dollars to run for president. WTF?

Told you it'd get moved...

I feel you, effing stupid *** crooks getting money so they can go all luxurious and crap. How about a cap on fundraising and being able to receive a certain amount of money, what does the President get paid a year? Like $300,000.00 right? Even if you times that by 4 for the 4 years they will be serving they should be capped to no more then $1.2 alllowed to receive for their campaign.

Goodness sakes, I don't give a rats as*! If Obama is a queer and purple, a man is a man. But do people really need to give him or McCain or better yet Clinton $50M+ a month? Fock no!!!!!! This is getting out of hand, at least put that money to a good cause, hot for going to the Ritz to get a Filet Moine however you spell that ****,

Sad part is they do not want us to homeschool our children anymore without a teaching degree or crudentials, and yet they do not spend the money in the right spots. I swear if we stopped paying School Admins and Principals so damn much and spread it out throughout the whole system rigth we would have better schools and smarter children.

Thanks for bringing this up, oh yeah if Obama wins I am moving to Canada!!!

be careful where you go in canada. Because of some of the provinces immigration laws and ideals its becoming the new mecca for those south of our boarder. Health care system is getting weighed down.

My dad and my sister are both teachers. My dad used to be a vice principle and has something like 25 years in and I was as much as he was when I was 26... of course that was before the $35,000 pay cut I took moving back to Santa Cruz.

My sister makes scratch. Fortunately they live in Fresno and her husband is a cop making good dough.

basically... it's getting to the point like in many other countries... wanna live fat... work for the government.

I was thinking of going into sometype of business, but I have to wait who gets elected. Taxes will be key for me. I don't want to have to shell out more than I can make.

welcome to the reality of campaigning. where do most americans get their information about the candidates? sitting on their asses watching television. if you know that your opponent is going to buy x commercials, then you have to try and buy x + 5 to edge the guy out. these ain't ads on craigslist and they sure as hell ain't cheap. $50mil will probably get them a few decent time slots on major networks for a month and if there is anything left over, you save it for the bombardment of ads in october.

don't get me wrong. i'm not saying its fair by any means, its just the way politics go in this country.

oh, and if it helps, $50 mil is only about 30mil in euros.
