World's Smallest Political Quiz

I would have posted this in the political forum - but I figure people that post/read there already know what party they align with

http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html

According to the quiz I'm a centrist

Centrists favor selective government intervention and emphasize what they commonly describe as "practical solutions" to current problems. They tend to keep an open mind on political issues. Many centrists feel that government serves as a check on excessive liberty.

I call bull****. That "quiz" is supported by a Libertarian organization (not that I do't like them, I often agree with them. But they called me "leftist-liberal" enough to embarrass Al Franken. ) But the way the wuetions are written seems a bit oversimplified for a true picture of an individual's political philosophy, unles of course they run the "party line" of their favored party, then it's accurate.

Lame test.

One the question: Military service should be voluntary. There should be no draft

I said "Yes"... not because I wouldn't like to have a manditory 2 years of service for all men and women (whether it's community service, military etc.) but because i wouldn't want any pansy *** cry babies making my ex-job's look bad.

Ok... so it's a bit skewed

From 30 million test takers

Libertarian 34.89 % <<<<<
Left-liberal 18.92 %
Centrist 30.11 %
Right-Conservative 7.39 %
Statist 8.69 %

It's certainly not the best measure for gauging your political interest... I take it as a quick and fun test much like "how gay are you" or "how asian are you". Any more questions and I think most of us would be too lazy to take it

Anyways - IMHO a bunch of us don't fit well in either major party (including myself) but will be voting for either Bush or Kerry. It certainly is an interesting way of pointing out where each party stands on major issues and where you stand and what you may be giving up by voting for that party.

Actually I think it does a good job of pointing out that neither of the major parties is very well aligned with the attitudes of the general populace.

I think if more Americans knew there even exists a libertarian party, the Demos and Repub's would be getting thrashed at the polls.

Before I even took the test I had a pretty good idea that it would put me on the border between left-liberal and Libertarian, they put me one tick into the upper corner of Left Liberal, so I think it really does do a pretty good job of showing where your position lies on the overall political spectrum.

If you didn't like where it put you, you probably aren't very well informed of the philosophies behind the major partrties, and you might want to do more research into what the parties platforms are and how your answers reflect their positions.
