While the burden of proof may not fall on you, the "burden" of an initial investigation does.
A multitude of both historical and anthropological evidence corroborates certain facets of the New Testament.

Actually many of the stories in the bible are historically accurate.
To be fair, I did make a cursory investigation. I believe vibe's statement is utter crap.

Faith=belief without evidence. Not much different from a delusional state.
I'm not buyin' it.

Regardless of how much of the bible actually happened, how much was embelished, and how much was plain made up (I'd bet there are all three in there...), it's rediculous to think the authors had the ability to predict/see the future. All of the parts of the bible pertaining to times after when the bible were written are alagories designed to scare/encourage believers into acting right. They have to be...the topic of this thread is really proof that the bible authors didn't know jack about the future...

Here's a few examples of events from the bible that actually did happen.
The tower of babal
The hanging gardens of Nebudchanezzar
Noahs ark (this can be disputed but similar stories have influenced literature in egypt and sumeria.
King saul of the isrealites
King david
king Darius (assyria)
Too many of the archaic and hellenistic greek battles were referenced in the old testament for me to even list.

Lajasmo, if you made a "cursory investigation" then you must have found some evidence. It is there. The most hardened atheists who teach ancient civ history on a college level wouldnt deny that.

...Noah's ark is most likely a reiteration of a super ancient flood story, and while King David was a real king, his kingdom was NOT as it is described in the bible at all...but yes, most of the bible is loosely based on actual events.
