They treated their own far worse.
If the media and half our nation’s people need to get a grip if they believe Americans are brutal. Shows them beating numerous prisoners with sjamboks at the end of the video. The weapon being used in the beginning of the video is also a sjambok if anyone is wondering.

BTW, does anyone know where I can find the video of Saddam's Fedayeen henchmen throwing civilians off a 3 story building to the concrete?

But detainees at gitmo are treated so much worse, human rights were much better before the American infadels invaded the soviergen peace loving nation.
I really think everyone needs to watch things like this to keep media propaganda in perspective. I think there's a show on dtms (comcast 271) about sadam @ 5:00 if you want to set your dvr or tivo. I saw a pretty detailed show a few months ago where the atrocities of sadam and his sons were chronicaled with some graphic video footage like the link in salty's second post.

This is disturbing. But as I've said before, the enemies behavior is absolutly not a justification for any type of misbehavior by Americans or American troops. YOu can't just say 'look what they do, we're not as bad'. You have to be able to say 'look at what they do, we're the exact opposite'.

did you even watch the video ? I have family in Riyadah and I can tell you right now that "accused" criminals there are treated far worse than any convicted criminals over here. How can you even compare anything to everyday islamic law ? Look everyone, I'm not saying we're the SAME as the enemy. Not even close, so stop getting your boxers all stuck up in the backs of your throats. What I'm saying is that the OPPOSITE of attrocious abuses is ABSOLUTLY NO ABUSES. And we're not there yet.
The main point is this: it seems to me that some people would like to justify any prisoner abuse that goes on in our country by saying that it's much worse someplace else. That, to me, is not a justification but an excuse. We can't hold ourselves to the same standard that the enemy does, we have to aim for a much much higher standard because that's part of what our country's about. I know the video has some f***ed up footage on there, but that's just more reason to not want to do anything like the enemy at all in this context.

Abuse and humiliation are two different things, you can't compare "abuses" that happened at gitmo or post regime abu gharib or even put them in the same catagory as physical abuse, public dismemberments and executions. Nobody has thier panties in a bunch, heck I go commando, people felt the need to respond when you injected the comparison between real cilvil rights abuses and mistakes made by a FEW of the not so bright misguided mps'. I'd understand your point and take your argument if there really was valid reports of torture or real physical abuses and crimes against humanity. But there isn't, and most likely won't be because of your statement:
