Now its just of lesser evils.
We no longer vote for who we like, just against who we dont like.
You have to have a screw loose to WANT to be president, and all the people who would be great leaders are't crazy enough to want to be one.

Maybe thats a bleak veiwpoint, but i'm a bleak guy.

i think that perhaps this is the situation with the current election. but think about eveything that our country has been through in the past. we have surviveded civil war, while many other countries have not. that says alot about the character of the United States. its too soon to give up hope. Maybe Bush isnt the best president but i believe that the American Government, as a whole, democrats and republicans together, has what it takes to see it people through this rough spot.

 

I knew very little about Clinton when he took office (plus I was very young), but I grew to like him as he moved more and more to the political "center".

I thought that his past was colorful, and I felt sypathy for him for all of his adultery.

He was a compassionate leader; he had the ability to speak in public, unlike our current president.

Although I wasn't the biggest fan of all of his foreign policy choices, he was able to bring Yassir Arafat and Israel's PM at the time, Yitzhak Rabin (R.I.P.), to the peace table, and to even embrace in public, with the whole world watching.

I disliked the fact that people died to keep his secrets (that Whitewater friend who's death is suspicious), and for his stands on certain issues (Gun Control for one).

I grew to love him by his 2nd. term, and I loved him even more during and after the Lewinsky affair, because he was only a human being after all, and those types of scandals are quite common for leaders of foreing nations.

I would rather Clinton served a 3rd. term, or for McCain to have won, then have either Bush or Gore win the last election.

We are faced with the lesser of two evils once again with the upcoming election, and I feel that its a disservice to the American public that we can't choose McCain or Powell to be our next President.

I think you're a little too caught-up in this election. If that's the case, then I agree with you 100%. On the other hand, I believe we'll have great leaders in our future.

We even have a few potential candidates who would fullfill that requirment but none of them want to man-up and take that step. There's a few men and Senators (McCain) that would be much better Presidential candidates then the yahoo's on our ballots these days.

 

great leaders are made by the people who put them there.
leadership is never obtained by ones own action-

I agree with dahveed. Clinton may have been a lady's man, but can you blame him? No wonder he went and did the first female he saw. I mean, have you seen his wife?

I also believe that Clinton is the best President we have had in a while. Our country wasn't at war, we had money in our vaults, and it was all good. People focus too much on the negatives than on Clinton's Presidency as a whole.

 

This is a funny statement.

So I assume this can be said for every president, right? Because it's the presidency that matters, not their influencing actions. He got elected twice so he must be a good president, correct?

Clinton cheated on his wife and made it seem acceptable, being the Commander in Chief and role model, for America's youth and millions of individuals. He ignored diplomatic issues by sending peace-keeping soldiers to every part of the globe to conduct a mission soldiers were never intended to do and issues escalated. He created a "wag-the-dog" diversion with Operation Desert Fox in 1998 which just so happened to interfere with the impeachment proceeding. He dropped bombs on Iraq because of their refusal to cooperate with U.N. weapons inspectors. That'll learn them! I'm sure that was the appropriate action to get on Saddam's “good-side”. How else was he supposed to take the spoltlight off the fact he’s been getting hummer’s in the oval office? Give the general public a laser-guided bomb fireworks show, of course!

If you ask me Clinton's on the same **** list as George W. Bush.…
