swine flu "pandemic"...
please allow me to throw my hat in as a right wing whackjob conspiracy theorist here...
this whole swine flu thing is being blown a bit out of proportion. the symptoms, and treatment, are the same as... the flu.
super evil swine flu -> http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/key_facts.htm
normal everyday flu -> http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/viruses/types.htm
yet the swine flu is all over the media lately. the federal government has declared a the "outbreak" a medical emergency.
over 73 confirmed cases worldwide. 40 cases in the USA, 0 of which have been fatal.
so mexico has had 100 deaths out of 2,000 suspected cases. a 5% mortality rate for the flu in a third world country is actually still better odds than what we experience here in the USA with the regular flu (fluctuates between 6~8%).
could this all be overly hyped by the media / government in an attempt to distract the american citizens from more important things?
or could this be the opportune moment for the administration to roll out a plan for universal healthcare when some posterchild for the under- (or un-) insured falls dead of the dreaded swine flu?

The Swine Flu is an act of terrorism. If you can't see that you are blind. Its an act of biological warfare. Terrorists infected Mexicans that frequently travel past our boarders, knowing that the disease would soon spread to the U.S.
P.S. I am joking. I have heard this argument on the radio though.

Its propaganda scare to counter act the drug cartels close to the boarder. It draws attention away and discourages contact between people on the US side with people on the Mexico side. That way there's less drug transactions and less weapons being sold.
Only kidding.
