In a nutshell, Bennett made the outrageous claim that there would be less crime if all black babies were aborted!!!

 

What a moron. When are people going to learn that you can't say things like that. Even if it was taken out of context or he was speaking hypothetically.

I hope he enjoyed his job while he had it.

 

I bet he wishes he were aborted now. Life just started to suck exponentially worse for him.

He should have had said "If every ghetto didn't exist crime would go down."

Then when the black community lashes out at him for such a remark they look foolish. But attacking babies is irrelevant and very racist. Because although all babies aren't created equal they are a direct reflection of how they are raised and their social surroundings.

Simply stated anytime you reduce one factor in a equation, the factors are going to differ on the other end. This was a response to the statment by the caller that tried to justify abortion by the reduction in crime. If you really wanted to reduce crime; abort black babies. He also stated that this idea was rediculous. WOuld we even have this wonderful topic if he was to say "But I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could, if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every MALE baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down,". After all most crimes are commited by men.

I sort of follow where you are going, but that wasnt his intention. Once he said his stupid ish, of course he went back and tried to rectify his words to mullify their impact.

What part of "If every ghetto didn't exist crime would go down" did you not grasp? Since when does phrase "crime would go down" mean crime wouldn't exist?

 

Who inhabits the ghettos (Low income housing projects)? It's people down on thier luck. Who don't have much cash. People that resort to desperate measures to gain what the lack. In other words people willing to resort to crime to survive.

If you were to get rid of all the people in the ghetto, there would be a LOT less crime. Not all crime, just a large amount. This isn't a race thing. All races inhabit ghettos. In fact, and this is just a side note on the projects. In S.F. there is a great amount of segregation. They actually (unofficially) have all single race projects. Almost 90% so.

So I think Salty should have said, "If we got rid of the people in the ghettos.". That of course would be a really wrong thing to do on a moral stand point.

 

After volunteering down in Hunters Point, I can attest to this being the case.
