Academic battle eh?

I just have a hard time accepting how little the human race has really developed over the years. Technology, media, and we still have the same problems we faced hundreds of years ago. Nothing about these soldiers offends me, it is just human nature.

You don't like human nature? Maybe u should end your own just kidding I would never be honest about something like that. All of our acts of survival boil down to basic human nature. Fighting to stay alive.

Like Clausewitz said: "war is the extension of failed politics". War and conflict will exsist as long as humans do.

I dont know who that dude is (or was), but it is a great quote that should have been headed by this administration. We didnt even try to politically fix this problem. Bush Jr. came into the White House knowing he would jack Saddam. His intentions have been written on the wall since Day 1.

Yeah, I think you're right there. Even though Saddam could have avoided his ***-whopping by letting the inspectors see what they wanted.

Just so you know, the medic on one of our teams is a practicing orthopedic surgeon. He's not even an officer. Our Commander has his law degree and fights cases for free for his soldiers. Think before you talk.
degrees mean dick, its about what knowledge you can apply to the situation and how that counts...

If you have a degree that proves that you have a minimum level of knowledge about a subject. I do agree with you though. Just stating. I know plenty of people that don't have degrees that are very smart and have been extremely successful.

Do you plan to serve 20+ years and then get the retirement?

I know this. My dad has only a high school education and has been very succesful. It just pissed me off that he had the audacity to call those soldiers barbarians when the lot of them are (more than likely) aggregately more intelligent than he is. Brain dead tools don't make it into SF. That's what determines who gets in. It's a mind game that will test you to the Nth degree.
