Obama approves Afghanistan troop increase
BarryO wasn't gonna increase/decrease troops until he announced his strategy....
President Barack Obama has approved a significant troop increase for Afghanistan, Pentagon officials said Tuesday.
The new troop deployment is expected to include 8,000 Marines from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as well as 4,000 additional Army troops from Fort Lewis, Washington.
"This increase is necessary to stabilize a deteriorating situation in Afghanistan, which has not received the strategic attention, direction and resources it urgently requires," Obama said in a written statement.

If we wage a war, we declare a war. So far we still haven't done that through congress.
If we start a war, we slam the hammer down so hard that all other nations will fear us. We don't go in, and slowly keep supplementing the effort. IE we should have just dropped 300k troops and it'll be over n' done within a couple of weeks.
This crap storm of putting troops in prolonging our time there is too late. This WILL BE VIETNAM OVER AGAIN.
NO NATION has ever gone into another area and trained its own country to be a democracy.
Hasn't happened while we've been alive, or our grandfathers been alive, or the Greeks been alive. It just hasn't happened.
This is going to suck.

well, Macarthur did help write the Japanese constitution after WW2 so maybe there was an exception to the "no nation" phrase even though it follows the british model for gov't structure. The japanese still have an emperor, but he's more of a figurehead than anything.
