Citibank Top Donor to Obama Inauguration
Employees of Citibank, which received $45 billion in rescue funds in the federal bailout, have contributed the most to Barack Obama’s inauguration fund — at least $113,000 as of Wednesday.
And the bank is lobbying behind the scenes for more money from the second $350 billion installment of federal bailout funds, according to The New York Times.
Among the contributions from Citibank executives is $50,000 from Ray McGuire, the bank’s co-head of global investment banking, and $50,000 from Louis Susman, the recently retired vice chairman of Citigroup, the Huffington Post reports.
Susman also bundled $300,000 in donations for the inaugural committee, according to Politico.com.
Bundlers are fundraisers who collect checks from friends and associates and deliver them to a campaign or committee.
Citigroup employees also gave $586,000 to Obama during the 2008 election cycle.

Obama's inauguration set to be the most expensive in US history
The $150m cost of the celebration will dwarf the $42.3m amount spent on George Bush's inauguration in 2005

AP Slammed Bush’s ‘Extravagant’ Inaugural in ’05, But Now It’s Spend, Baby, Spend

Four years ago, the Associated Press and others in the press suggested it was in poor taste for Republicans to spend $40 million on President Bush’s inauguration. AP writer Will Lester calculated the impact that kind of money would have on armoring Humvees in Iraq, helping victims of the tsunami, or paying down the deficit. Lester thought the party should be cancelled: “The questions have come from Bush supporters and opponents: Do we need to spend this money on what seems so extravagant?”
Fast forward to 2009. The nation is still at war (two wars, in fact), and now also faces the prospect of a severe recession and federal budget deficits topping $1 trillion as far as the eye can see. With Barack Obama’s inauguration estimated to cost $45 million (not counting the millions more that government will have to pay for security), is the Associated Press once again tsk-tsking the high dollar cost?

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone; the person we call "president" may change, but who and what runs the country stays the same: lobbyists, campaign contributors, etc. Those are the real policy makers.
Then again, I haven't liked any president since Jefferson, so I'm a bit biased.

David Icke isn't exactly what I would call a credible source; the man believes that reptilian aliens live among us and have taken human form as the power elite.

Ha ha- yeah, DI is quite a piece of work;
"In 1999, he published The Biggest Secret, in which he wrote that the Illuminati are a race of reptilian humanoids known as the Babylonian Brotherhood, and that many prominent figures are reptilian, including George W. Bush, Queen Elizabeth II, Kris Kristofferson, and Boxcar Willie."
Boxcar Willie? Oh yeah the empire will run out of Branson Missouri ...AYFKM?,
oh, but its all so obvious-
"Icke cites the Holocaust, the Oklahoma City bombing, and the 11 September 2001 attacks as examples of events financed and organised by the Global Elite. British journalist Simon Jones writes that, according to Icke, "Ordinary people are being massively duped into believing that the ordinary course of world events are the consequence of known political forces and random, uncontrollable events. However, the course of humanity is being manipulated at every level. These individuals arrange for incidents to occur around the world, which then elicit a response from the public ('something must be done'), and in turn allows those in power to do whatever they had planned to do in the first place." Icke refers to this as problem-reaction-solution"
He might be on to something with that, but he certainly isn't a very reliable source- he makes Alex Jones look like he's dealing from a full deck.
* Icke was featured in the third episode of the first season of the comedy duo Penn and Teller's Bull****! about alien abductions.
* In a poll published by BBC Homes and Antiques magazine in January 2006, Icke was voted the third most eccentric star, being beaten by Björk and Chris Eubank.
At the same time, I think Obama stepped into the job in the worst situation this country's ever been in, Last night CNBC replayed their "Super rich" program that first ran about a year ago, before Madhoff and back when the dow was still over 12000, and it was all so apparent watching that that nearly all of the Hedge Funds are nothing more than gigantic Ponzi schemes, these trillions of bailout money are going to prop up these douchebags that felt entitled to hundreds of millions in compensation for playing with other people's money- and trillions aren't even going to be enough to cover the theft that has gone on in the name of "Hedge Fund Management".
Things aren't going to get better for this country for a long time no matter who gets to move into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. next week.
