New scandal from the Bush administration!

State Dept. Now Says Bolton Interviewed
By MARK SHERMAN, Associated Press Writer 24 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - John Bolton,
President Bush's nominee for U.N. ambassador, mistakenly told Congress he had not been interviewed or testified in any investigation over the past five years, the State Department said Thursday.

Bolton was interviewed by the State Department inspector general in 2003 as part of a joint investigation with the
Central Intelligence Agency into prewar Iraqi attempts to buy nuclear materials from Niger, State Department spokesman Noel Clay said
.

The admission came hours after another State Department official said Bolton had correctly answered a Senate questionnaire when he wrote that he has not testified to a grand jury or been interviewed by investigators in any inquiry over the past five years.

The reversal followed persistent Democratic attempts to question Bolton's veracity just days before Bush may use his authority to make him
United Nations ambassador after Congress adjourns for its summer recess. For months, Democrats have prevented the Senate from confirming the fiery conservative to the post.

So Mr. Bolton lied? He'll fit right in the UN.

Yeah, it's almost like being up in arms for someone filling out their international declaration incorrectly when they knowingly have fruit in their luggage.

There's people in the UN that have gallons upon gallons of oil and blood on their hands and we‘re worried about this? Next abomination please!

Golly, everyone knows the the Bush admin. is the only presidency in U.S. that has been scandel ridden. It's like that movie goldfinger where everyone he touches turns to gold, except in this case, everyone around him turns scandelous.

Just another piece of the puzzle

Bush's nominee to the U.N. either forgot that he gave testimony on the administration's misdirection of the public (Niger yellowcake) in the lead up to war, or he lied on his questionaire.

Either way, he's probably not fit to represent the United States in any capacity.

But of course, despite senate democrats' rightful refusal to rubber stamp the nomination, Bush will make a recess appointment.

No, democracy is careful deliberation before stepping into the abyss. Nobody's talking about a fillibuster here, HD. We're talking about examining all the history, documentation, and testimony before making a decision.

The senate is the more deliberative body in the legislature.

I'll write more about the difference between the number of clinton's v. bush's judicial nominations later.

Wow. Another staunch liberal to put Democrats on a pedestal that rivals city skyscrapers. And this is coming from a moderate Conservative that has many Democratic views. Look, the senate is nothing to ********** over. It’s not like Republicans are not capable and rational, worthwhile thought either. Just like with anything there’s a few winners and a whole lot of losers, okay? Here’s a towel…

WTF are you talking about.

There is only ONE senator I would caucus for were he to decide to seek the democratic nomination.

I was just trying to straighten out somebody's misinterpretation of democracy.

Hahahaha so that's what they say they are doing before they fillibuster and hold up democracy? If GW puts anyone forward with a hint of conservatism they are shot down.

That's total crap. During his Administration, President Bush has nominated a total of 226 individuals to the federal courts. Of those, 198 -- 88% -- have been confirmed by the Senate. And, as a percentage of the total Bush nominees who received any form of vote on the Senate floor, a process controlled by Republicans, the percentage of confirmed Bush nominees is even higher: a whopping 95% -- 198 of 208. It is widely expected that the Senate will confirm several more nominees promptly upon reconvening, bringing the total of confirmed Bush nominees to 200 or more by early September. By contrast, during President Clinton’s first term, he nominated 239 individuals to the federal courts, of whom 202 -- 85% were confirmed.
