Buy the rumor, sell the news... basic rule of thumb.

 

this 'market' of which you speak.... isnt a market at all. the DJIA is a sample of only 30 companies.

but im sure you knew that

 

and i believe the adage is 'buy on the rumor, sell on the news" unless there is some market for news and rumors futures that i am not aware of.

 

I would like to hop into the rumors future market, sounds like fun.

I've heard both, but "buy the rumor, sell the news" seems to be the more common saying.

In the stock market, no news is good news. Todays drop was going to happen no matter which idiot won.

When my friends and family stop losing their jobs and the housing market finally calms down I'll put my 401k back into the market - but that aint happening anytime soon.

The market has been up and down for WEEKS upon WEEKS before the election, why try to pin a market loss on the election.

No, I was wrong to think any of you are intelligent enough to see that the market going down today was simply a sell off from yesterdays gains... And that the past weeks trends match this cycle, pre-election. Even if people are trying to be funny, even if they don't really mean it, it's just become rather childish at this point to attack Obama and pin the damn dji average closing down on the election results.

The things people are saying is just out of control. Obama is President Elect... get over it. I'm sorry your guy didn't win, mine did not either...

 

i heard a rumor going around wall street that "they were 90% sure obama was going to be president" thats why the market crashed thousands of points
