Kerry's Brilliant Idea

I dont know anything about kerry other than he can talk better than your average 6th grader. This would be absolutley hilarious if bush agreed, and even better if kerry couldnt stop from laughing when that idiot bush trips over himself.

All it would take is one debate and W will be toast, bet he tries to weasel out of any debates at all.

Although I agree with you, there's no weaseling out of anything in this matter.

Both candidates are far to busy to even consider putting aside one day a week for a debate. Bush is busy dealing the Presidency an the election and Kerry is busy with the exact same things, minus the Presidency...

Kerry called hoping Bush wouldn’t take the hand he was dealt by folding which makes him the winner for the initiating challenge to begin with.

Debates have been a very important tradition in presidential elections in the US going back to the begining of this countries history, ever heard of the Lincoln/Douglas debates? they weren't the first.

I can't think of a presidential election in my life that didn't have a series of debates between the candidates, although many of them have been little more than staged photo-op/sound bite exchanges.

Kerry has thrown down the gauntlet, he's said is ready and willing to debate this guy every week, although I'd be even more interested in seeing how hard Edwards would be willing to come down on Halliburton Dick, but I really think the voters of this country deserve to see the two of them- both P and VP candidates on the same stage defending their positions.

No matter what you think of it Salty, I say W is going to be weaseling out.

Honestly? Pretty good, 'cause after a Democracy crumbles, Chaos follows.
And Chaos helps clean out the gene pool.

Remember, we get the gov't that we deserve.

Because of apathy. It's a chicken and egg situation.

*sigh* What silly point are you trying to make now?

You sound like the type that sips chai at your local coffee shop as you preach about "big brother" while adjusting your pretty raspberry beret and shades.

Bush isn't a great public speaker and Kerry exploited the fact he knew Bush would never take the challenge because of that.

It not rocket science, BlingBlingBlue so quit making me seem like the bad guy by making this matter a LOT more than what it really is.

I disagree... I would guess most if not all president's have debated with their rivals. If he cant hang with a challenger, how does this make him look as a leader of our nation??

I am guessing that he fears a JFK / Nixon debate where Nixon got owned like no other

Don't they have to have atleast one real debate? The public deserves more than that anyway. No matter how scared of the debate the Bush camp is, I think they're better off atleast making an appearance and spewing more rhetoric about 'bringing America together'. They like to use words like 'progress', 'values' and 'forward'. They'd be better off looking stupid than chicken. Most people who plan to vote for bush are only doing so because he portrays himself as 'tough guy' or a 'cowboy' anyway.
