How to stop our drug problem.. it works in Singapore!

(Mandatory death sentence for drug trafficing)

Heck, if we applied this to immigration violations, graffiti, gum chewing, welfare and foodstamp fraud, etc, we could clean up the streets quick-style!

I like it. He knew the penalty before he did it. Some people work for a living, he was trying to avoid doing that.

I have no problem where there is no shadow of a doubt regarding guilt (ie being caught with the contraband). Same with murderers, rapists, molesters caught in the act. Th gray area is where there is doubt, one innocent person executed is one too many...

Singapore refused repeated pleas from Australian leaders for clemency for Nguyen, saying the sentence must be carried out because drug trafficking is a serious offense that ruins lives.
I'm sure there are many more things in signapore that ruin lives.

I think most of their extremist liberals are in-check, so drugs are probably their biggest problem.

So long as you mind yourself it's actually a very nice and fun country to be in.

I agree with you to a point. But tourists are taken advantage of in countries like that where drug smugglers befriend someone and place said contraband in their baggage etc, etc.

Not saying that this is what happened to this guy because all signs point to him doing this on his own. How do you toe that thin line?

Except for the fact that there's no evidence of it's efficacy....

Well, that's about it.

Yep, that's one reason I will NEVER go there. Apparently, this guy who was executed today admitted he had done it to get his brother out of debt with a loan shark. Sad stuff, but you can imagine the harm the drugs could have caused...

I wonder if they bother doing a polygraph or whatever... doubt it.

There is NO EXCUSE for what he did, many people get into debt and don't resort to smuggling drugs. That said, a sad waste of a human life. Penalty paid. RIP.

The global war on drugs is rediculous and unnecesary to begin with....killing someone over it is a travesty.

Yes. Alcohol has a toxic dose which is much closer to the therapeutic dose than most of the so called "hard drugs"

Heroin is actually one of the least physiologically detrimental drugs extant.

It'd be a good way to stop speeding too...but that's rediculous, isn't it.

Killing anyone as punishment for anything is assinine. The ONLY thing it accomplishes is that it gives a sense of revenge to the victim; and frankly, if you want someone dead for revenge, then you may be a worse person than they are.

Singapore may have a low rate of crime because of laws like this, but they are not free. I mean...if you complain about the gun laws in CA, just imagine what they're like in a country where spitting out gum can get you lashed with a bamboo poll.

Word. Thankfully we live in a democracy and are under the black cloud of authoritarian rule.

And Dumb, since you are so in favor of these draconian laws, you should move out of our country and stop complaining about the basic tenets that are country was founded on beyotch
