How long can you survive?
Being raised in the '70s & '80's, having been a Boy Scout, and in the military, I'm a bit fascinated with the "survivalist" mindset.
Have any of you taken stock of some of the possible catastrophes that could happen where you live, and, more importantly, what you need to do to survive?
I'm not talking about foreign invasion, but rather real/current threats such as large riots, earth quakes/natural disasters, etc.
Do you have a plan to keep you and/or your loved ones safe/alive?

Abandoned military bunker. Once I have $300K that is the first investment I am making.
And I can survive as long as the nuclear reactor and air filtration system stand (half life of 200 years) and as long as my ammo lasts for the many, many, many guns I will have.

Hmm..good question - I can't think of a reason why it would get flooded (generally these bunkers are constructed away from major rivers and such) however, I am sure a back up plan for pumping out water could be made.
Usually these bunkers are completely encased in several feet of concrete with missile withstanding bunker doors.

I'm good for 2 days with what is on me/in my car. Enough to get back to the house. I've got enough for a couple of weeks at the house. Maybe enough for a month, if I push it. Dehydrated food + water + backup water treatment.
I need to get some gas + stabilizer, though. I only have three 5 gallon containers in the garage. What I really need is a car that runs on regular.
Yay for Mountain house bulk cans!

ok i know i live way up here but i did make an earthquake kit.
1 inch thick plywood box 4ft x 4 ft x 4 ft with vent. put it in the far back of the backyard all locked up. what if the **** really goes down. down want the house falling on it. plus if needed if i take everything out of it it doubles as a shelter. its bolted to post that are cemented in the ground
it also is just a genrals storage for all of my camping stuff, real camping not fake find a camping lot and walk to the bathrooms camping
all of my friends laugh at me but who is gonna be the guy not starving and not wet and cold
it has:
Tent and im talkign the taj mahal of tents, emergency kit that has a radio flashlight combo that is solar and wind up, MRE's, a box of these wierd calorie bars that each bar can feed six people for 2 days, various medical supplies, water tablets, all kinds of wierd stuff
cases and cases of water.
vaccum sealed bag of dog food for the dogs (and if you get hungry enough you know you'd eat that **** too.)
1's and 5's in the safe with the guns
i always have 2 propane tanks full for the grill
a fire pit with 1/2 cord of wood on hand all times
and if i need more wood and **** is really bad i start ripping out sheet rock and use the studs in the house to burn
plus tons of clothes blankets
case of cheap diapers for my son, every time he goes up a size i donate to somewhere
toys for him
generator so that if i can still get in the house we can keep the food good and have heat and light
20 gallons of 91 gas that i rotate every 6 months for the generator and/or car
cards, some random board games
I could last easily 1 month with supplies on hand and no source of water. Probably 3 if i had a source of water to at least purify
