I understand that but don't you think that the picture that they compromised on is a better depiction to show to kids? And for the record I didn't say that I agreed with it. I just said I understood why a school administrator would do what she did in that instance and in light of very recent school shootings.

What if the Marine was a member of the tank crew and the picture was taken showing him in the turret and the tank was visable with it's main gun and .50 cal MG? Or a Marine in front of an Apache gunship with armed rocket pods?

All I hear from you is what if this what if that....The administrator is a liberal ***** that was doing it out of her own political motivations.....etc....etc....etc.....

i can understand why the principle did it, but i don't agree with it. however, the sister should have gotten a different pic of the brother. there are pics other than wartime pics she could have brought in. if she didn't like the compromise the school offered, then she's being hardheaded and the pic should be removed. the compromise wasn't that bad.

The proof is the policy of zero tolerance does not apply to pictures, if it did then the school mascot itself, would have to be changed and the principal damn well knew it, hence the district had to step in....so shut your yap

OK...I've had my Jamba Juice & can think better....

Now let's all calm down...take a deep breath.....

Alright, the statement was made that if the girl didn't like the compromise, then she's being hard-headed.
Well, I see it as the principal is the hard-headed one, and could've quite easily defused the situation by just allowing the original picture to stay.

I can't quite prove the principal's motivation to "stick to her guns."
But, being in a position of authority, her key motivators are power & money.
And being a public servant, politics directly affact her ability to gain, keep, and increase her power.
Oregon, like the two other West Coast States, is a Liberal state.
It's not a far stretch to assume then that the principal leans to the Left.
Also, her own action speaks volumes; she spazzed out not that a student brought a gun to school, but ,rather brought in a picture of a gun.

And that kind of irrational behavior screams out "I'm a Liberal!".

While I can understand the reasoning that you have put in it is still based on assumptions and I still think that it would be more believable that she "spazzed" out as you so eloquently put it because there was just an incident where a student went on a killing spree in a high school and I happen to think that her primary motivation is most likely the safety of her students in her high school, again given the recent horrific incident at that high school.

Even though I think that the picture should be allowed to be displayed.

I think that it was turned into this huge liberal-conservative argument because of the very place we are arguing it in. None of the news sources said anything about political associations....That was Teh Politics Forum spin
