In a nutshell, a professor at Foothill City College in Los Altos, CA, belittled a Kuwaiti student for his political views.

Liberalism being taught by our professors in "higher learning" institutions!? I never thought I’d see the day. [/sarcasm]
Seriously though, this does not surprise me whatsoever. Honestly, did this story really shock you when you read it? <soft tone>
Some of those responses are pretty powerful below the article. Although littlegreenfootballs leans to the right it is a very good blog. Even for those that sit more towards the left. What blogs do you read that lean to the left, dub2w? Curious.

dont read all that many blogs, but will scan a few of them after google searches. i think, for the most part, blogs are pretty stupid. more ranting and ideological fervency than I would prefer to read...
Was I surprised to read about this? Not in the least. I actually encountered this teacher years ago. Prof. Woolcock is a smug, elitist liberal. He catered to women in a very slimy way. I had a serious run-in with him when he persistently made fun of an exchange student from Southeast Asia, whom I had become buddies with. Whenever my friend tried to add to the class discussion, Woolcock would belittle him and make fun of his English abilities. All of the lemings in the class would just sit there and keep their moths shut, worried that speaking up might affect their precious grades.
Needless to say one day I couldnt contain myself. I stood up in class, and pointing my finger at him, called him out on all of his inconsistencies. After he kicked me out of his class I went to the dean with my friend and a few others in the class to bring this teacher's insane behavior to attention. sadly, we were told that the dean couldnt do a thing... Woolcock was and is tenured and there is little they can do about it.
Teh suckage

The dean lied to you. Tenure does NOT mean that he can't get fired for violating policies and or laws (like discrimination, harassment, etc.). Tenure simply means that he can't get fired for his performance, or lack thereof. It's sort of a contract in way, that says a prof can mess up a few times in regards to his work because the school has faith that he will do good work in the long term.
But if a prof acts inapropriatly, like making fun of someone because they don't speak English well or using racial slurs in class, he can DEFINATLY be fired regardless of weather or not he's tenured.

The Kuwaiti kid definatly should NOT have been critisized for his viewpoint. On the other hand, he was givin a stance to take on a subject and blatantly disregarded the stance. It's like a debate club...you don't have to agree with the stance, but if you're told to argue a side you're supposed to. By doing so, hopefully you'd see both sides of the argument well so that you can form your own opinion seperate from the assignment.
By the way, I agree that the Constitution was written by an elite class. That's not even really an opinion...the drafters of the Constitution were among the richest 5% of people in North America at the time. It's as if Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Donald Trump, and their buddies wrote it. I'm not saying they did a bad job at all, I think the Constitution does an excellant job of protecting people's rights while allowing the government to perform its duties. But the guys who wrote it were rich as hell and wanted to stay that way.

What surprised me about this picture is the fact the illustrator didn't have the pigs fingers inside the trigger guard. Wouldn't want to be too over the top I suppose

and mvwrx, i agree with you. the kuwaiti kid is out of line, and woolcock doesnt deserve this attention. i would instead say that this is a case "of the chickens coming home to roost" ala Malcolm X.
