HAHA I hated to see the Euro. I didn't mind exchanging money in each country and it took a lot of identity away from the countries. The French especially should know how to handle currency after they screwed themselves when they quit backing there money with gold in a poor economy. It was a disaster from the start. It's funny how England is the only country to maintain the Pound (national currency by tradition) and they have the strongest economy in Europe.

Didn't the yuppie cast at SNL do a sketch a while back where the Euro was picking on the U.S. Dollar? Funny.

I think in the coming years it will be advantageous for the US to have the EU as a single economic entity. Europe, and therefore the Euro market, are more friendly to us than asian markets, especially China. As China builds its economic power, I think the Dollar and Euro will have to use this 'friend' situation to stop China from becoming the #1 world economic power.

You are wise beyond your years. I am economics major and we talked about that exact topic in depth. China takes advantage of the exchange rate to improve their commerce and financial standings. The only way we can beat them at it is to put sanctions into place which will kill the negotiating process with North Korea or join the EU (in theory) in getting China in line.

strictly from an economic standpoint thats what we need to do, but the EU is not going to be a major player in containing china.

Of course not. The Germans cut all of the Europeans ***** off with the blitzkrieg and they were lost during the Nurenberg trials. It will take a billion years for them to evolve some new genitalia. You didn't know that? Like always NATO will just let America do everything and look like the bad guys which has become protocol since creation pretty much.
