Destiny's Child - Soldier [offensive to those in uniform?]
http://www.destinyschild.com/video/DestinysChild_SoldierVidFull_300.asx
I had never thought anything of this, but I saw this video posted at another forum and a number of people that are members of our fine armed services took offense at the way the word "soldier" was being used. Anybody in the service of the US care to comment? __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |

Yes.
It wasn't a big deal in the beginning because "soldier" was dubbed "street-thug" or something along those lines. But when these rap artists start boasting about "purple hearts in the city" (50 cent IIRC), rank and actually wearing decorations on their jacket it can be rather offensive. I suppose someone could legitimately press charges because it is against the law to wear military decorations... especially awards of valor etc. If anyone ever did then it would be pawned off in the same sense an actor wears a uniform and awards. The problem is that this type of thinking has obviously gone to their heads. OT: This is the worst ****ing song evAr... I’m specifically referring to the, "he's looking good and he's talkin' right" lyric. WTF kind of message is that!? I’d like to think my daughter would be interested in a person that could form a coherent ****ing sentence. Pathetic. |
For the record I see an ARCOM, BS, SS and DSC (second highest to the MOH).

What a bunch of malarchy, I don't see how any person with a ****ing brain could take any of these guys seriously. Pardon my rant :)
I'd be alot happier if 100% of the proceeds from this album went to Injured soldiers and thier families, or even if they all just bought a belt |
I sent this thread to a friend of mine and he said:
Doesn't really bother me. I know that deep down in his little Koolaid pumping heart, he knows that those decorations he wears were earned by better men than he will ever be and he will never be man enough to earn them for himself
:D |
I'm not sure any of the many people in uniform that I know have even heard that song. Its hard to be offended when you don't know someone is offending you. They all seem to listen to rock and country, my brother joined the Corp's and came out listening to country. Strange.
