You try and pet a leopard, get bit, you won't do it again. I got mugged in SF with a bunch of black dudes in hoodies, I won't let them come behind me again. Stereotypes are there because they are somewhat true, your experiences only validate this. Does it mean I think all black people in hoodies are bad? Of course not.

At one point or another, being Unique and being Racist/Prejudice are one and the same. People prefer to celebrate birthday parties a certain way, marriages, religious things, etc. to be all unique, but by doing that you implicitly show some differential. Same idea with this.

I think anyone can admit they are some part of this. It's just uncomfortable to show, and society has deemed it this way (some parts of our culture here is ok vs other countries which think it's nuts and vice versa).

In psychology class I remember saying something to the like it's an infinite line. You can never be totally "not prejudice/racist" and there will always be some people in the world that are, or things in society that are, and yet we fight a war that will never end (and I mean NEVER). Equality for all is a dream. I'm not saying we should ignore it or stop fighitng it; however, bringing it up and educating people seems to be more paramount to understanding different cultures and different people.


I went on a field trip, the group we brought were from the bay area and very much mixed. Another school was there and I was just amazed at the dynamics of 'self entitled' folks whom were all white. (Their parents and their kids and their school). At times they even the adults, besides the students, spoke condescending to me and my colleagues, or were just straight rude. Sad to see a lot of this happens everywhere. In the end, when people are "self entitled" etc., they are missing out on the rest of the world.
