You'd think an industry that's not only profited immensely off military themed movies, but has also help forge an epidemic of phonies would take a second to say thanks, wouldn’t ya?

What upsets me about Hollywood is the fact they don't acknowledge the unconditional sacrifice these men and women have made. Sure, a lot of these men and women enlisted to join the WOT, a war that most Streisand-type scum disagree with.
But when you look at the flip side of the coin a majority of these people enlisted during peacetime like myself. During a time when a threat may have arisen to wipe the 1st amendment and our country off the map. A threat that would cripple Hollywood and their pocket books as a result. Hell, that threat already exists with countries in Asia and the Middle East!
But nope! All Hollywood sees is: Camoflage = Bush = War = Bad. You can bet your *** if the military was an entire gay force they'd be giving them a reacharound before every commercial.

Hardly. Gustapo interogation techniques, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction through the Lockheeds and Dow Cornings, and grab-*** military bullsh!t wouldnt be tolerated by the literati regardless of sexual disposition.

I don't understand why liberals always label groups (usually machoesque-type) into some fascist or uber republican bubble? Soldiers and successful, "IRS cheating" businessmen come to mind. But when there's an even denser and most significant amount of ****-ups in another group they immediately go on the defense by saying, "well, not all of them are that way... some are peaceful..." Well not **** sherlock! We know a lot of them are peaceful.

You make a valid argument. I was focusing on the macro-element (the war machine ala Dylan) while you were discussing the micro-aspects (the soldiers).

Haha I almost did.
I wonder where the "macro machine" begins? Maybe gpatmac can chime in on this one?
I'd have to say it begins at the 05-06 paygrade level (depending on job). Not saying they don't deserve their respect because there's some damn fine 05+ serving our country today that deserve praise. But when it gets down to responsibility I can put far more on their shoulders and not care as opposed to anyone at the battalion level or lower. Assuming the **** hit the fan, of course... and by **** i'm referring to stuff on the larger scale, not actions that could be avoided on a personal level.
That's the beauty of being a civilian now... **** rolls uphill just as fast.

A Lt. COL from the 3rd SFG(A) makes some remarks on Ben's recent column on the Oscars and Hollywood.

He slams hollywood and actors a few times.
Good read.

The funny thing about actors these days is that many of them seem to have forgotten what they actually do. They act, meaning of course they pretend to be something they are not.
...
He [George Clooney] often plays a tough guy, and some folks actually seem to think he is. He would not last five minutes with the men I am honored to serve with every day.
