Barack Hussein Obama

He's a polished speaker with a lot of pretty wallpaper to boot. He's tall and a relatively handsome guy which will help his chances. But what exactly does he stand for and what experience does he have? Does anyone have the scoop? If there ever was a time for a black president Obama is the man to do it in 2008. Does anyone get the feeling that Obama could win just because he's the polar opposite of Bush on the surface?

Don't get me wrong, Bush wasn't the greatest businessman in the world but he held his own. He may not have been the best Governor in the United States but he certainly wasn't bad by any means. Given Bush's reputation now, will being a eloquent speaker with a decent head on one’s shoulders better one’s chances against a decent Republican candidate?

I think Obama has a solid chance of winning unless the Republicans get a stellar candidate and soon. And he better be over 6ft tall, handsome, and a great speaker.

This is a great topic for discussion. I wouldn't, and I hope most people don't, vote for him strictly on looks and speaking ability. I think that if Obama wants to win, he needs to show what he has done. As far as I know, he hasn't done much. I think that compared to who he might be running against in the Dem. Party (Hillary), he is a superior choice. I like that fact that he is young as well. I think he has that going for him. Someone who more people can relate to (on a domestic and international level).

I know it may be a little biased seeing as it's his webpage, but I thought the thread could use some reference material. I'll look for more when I have time...

How long before Sharpton and Jackson start ****ing his shadow? Anyone? If everything checks out and Obama is what this country needs afterall, I hope he steers clear of these losers.

Good Article about Obama. It's interesting to note that even those that oppose him seem to have nothing but good things to say about how he operates.

He's open about his past, and has a history of corroborating with anyone involved be they democrat or republican.

Sounds like a refreshing change....

Democrat poster child. He hates whites, admits to doing crack, and his middle name rhymes with insane. Might as well get Willie Brown (former SF mayor) to be his running mate.

McCain or Powell could make it interesting. Rice would have to do something outside of the Administration successfully before she would stand a chance.

As far as I'm concerned the GOP is F'd come '08. Which should give the Dems a solid four year to screw up enough to fill '12-'16 with GOP juice.

I can't stand Hitlery's voice, so Obama wins. From most of the scattered polling info I've seen it seems that folks don't like her, and I've actually heard positive things about Obama.

The real interesting thing will be to see how Obama works with those two while continuing to hold broad appeal for white democrats and people still on the fence.

My gut tells me that there will be some interaction with those two because unfortunately Jackson's right that Obama cannot overlook the black vote. But I also believe Obama is smart and he won't let that interaction define him. His track record points to the fact that he works with people, no matter what their views. We'll see.

Well, don't know if the dems learned their lesson or not, but they should remember that the only reason so many people voted against Gore was because he came accross as a condescending *** clown.

Looks like the same thing would happen if they put forth hitlery, except this one schreeks!
