Awesome movie

Simple awesome movie...

Should make every single one of you guys appreciate wtf you have here. No matter how rich or poor you are.

I love how at the very start of the movie it compares the violence in the middle east and the violence in the favelas..

But it like this.. Brasil > Iraq when it comes to the daily deathtoll...(for the most part i would assume that the assumption i just made would be pretty damn close to true)

Anyways an awesome movie about how a few people stood up and said **** all... And ended up making a massive change for the better in their communities.

So hug a tree, save a whale, smoke some pot, and pray that the liberal left wing media dies in your sleep tonight, but what ever you do watch this ****ing movie.

How about we open our gates to these wonderful people so our country can be more "diverse?" I'm sure they will act responsibly when they get here.

I'm ignorant of Brazil's issues.
Can I assume it's poverty/drugs related?

yeah pretty much, that and brasilian society in general is extremely imbalanced..

think 2million dollar condos a quarter mile from shanty towns...

Its just a world of extremes.. no middle class no middle ground for the most part..

It's actually not that much different from any big city here in the U.S. Look at S.F. for example. You have million dollar condo's/homes located just a couple of blocks from the projects (Drug infested low income houseing developments) housing our "poor".

Or an even better example of two extremes is Palo Alto....you have multi-million dollar homes on one side of the tracks and one of the worst places to live in California on the other...literally.

But yeah, after visiting my first 3rd world country, when I got home, I had a new perspective on things...

Trust me man it is NOTHING like it is here in the US.

We arent talking people who are just broke, or spent their food stamps on rims...

We are talking about people who get ABSOLUTELY NO HELP from the goverment.. NONE, we are talking about entire cities of people that hardly ever leave the borders of their shanty towns.

Think of a colony of lepers living in times square, or the middle of SF market district... That would be about the same.. oh minus one thing.. they would be leaving in makeshift shanties...

There really is absolutely no comparison.

Ghetto here is nothing short of life styles of the rich and famous compared to favela life...

Ever have a 9 year old(couldnt have been more then 11) shoot at you in a bullet proof car? Cause the kid wanted you to rob you at a major intersection?

Didnt think so....

Yes it f'd there and so horrific I don't even want to watch.... what is the solution?
My point (if unclear) was to point out that it would be lunacy to try to rescue people via immigration because we'd end up bringing the problem here.

I actually agree somewhat with hella here, though for diffrent reasons. The fact is, right now there is very little we can do there. We are so tied down in Iraq, with all it's problems, that it leaves very little recources to help out places like Brazil (even though their problems are very interconected with our own drug problems.

I know how bad it can get. What my point was is that here in the states you can have people with millions sitting in the bank living next door to people without bank accounts. I wasn't trying to make any comparisons about the violence. Many 3rd world countries are viciously violent. I've seen it first hand. Been shot at. All that good stuff. There are plenty of people on this forum that know what your talking about. You make it sound as if it's just been discovered. I feel you man. I really wish there was a simple solution for it all.

My point is shut the **** up and know your place. If you dont understand wtf is being said or talked about keep your ****ing mouth shut. This way people will have a bit harder of a time confirming your idiocy.
