Arnold Schwarzenegger

Does anyone here actually think he's a bad Governor? I think he's a stand-up politician.

I have no idea how that Phil Angelides will ever beat him.

I don't mind him as a governor, and I definatly think Angelides has a hard road ahead because of his tax policies (although most of his suggestions for taxes are not for the average joe californian but for large companies and such...). Arnold's wife seems to be able to keep him moderate enough to satisfy the wants of the reasonable liberals here...

I laugh at the commercials they air here against Arnold. The ones suggesting that because he supported Bush in 2004, it makes him unreliable. Have you seen those?

those are hilarious!! they based arnold's "reliablity" solely on the fact that he supports his fellow republican. i guess they couldn't find any good dirt on the governator.

Exactly. The commercials almost make him look good in that respect.

Bob Casey Jr. is doing the same thing here in PA for the Senate race against Rick Santorum. Saying that because he has voted with Bush 98% of the time makes him a bad person.

...it isn't a strong case, but siding with Jr 100% of the time does show blind allegiance to a white house that isn't even conservative simply because they call themselves republican. If I were a conservative, I'd be more pissed about this admin than I am already...they've expanded gov't more than any other admin in recent times.

Have you seen how Angelides walks backwards? Heck, anyone who can do that must make a good leader. hehehe.

I'm still pissed that he turned down the ferret bill, but he hasn't done anything majorly wrong. I think he'll dominate again if he runs, he hasn't been stellar but there isn't really a reason for change.

I don't think it means anything other than being on the same team. It's like being called-up by the God Father. You may not support him or even like him but if you're summoned you better show respect for the team or your career is over. Not the best analogy but you get the idea.

That analogy is EXACTLY why that type of croniism-in-the-face-of-stupidity scares me. The president should not be a mob boss...

the team mentality kills democracy, it doesn't help it in any way.

I guess you're right... the same also applies for Democrats and any powerful politician. I'm sure you'd agree...

If President Clinton summoned another Democrat to speak then he or she would feel obligated to cheer on the President for the sake of the party. It shouldn't have to be this way... they shouldn't have feel like they need to fit a perfect mold that is Republican or Democrat. This is why Republican values are mixed into the system in some respects. Then again, it's also why we have abortion and other Democrat influenced laws.

The country needs a moderate leader but neither party is willing to break the mold to accommodate the nomination of one. They’d probably win too.
