New Tires Needed

Hey guys,
i need some suggestions on my next set of tires for my suby
im looking for a good all season tire that will do well in the snow
for tahoe trips, and are exceptional on the dry curvy roads. they would
have to fit on my stock rims.

Best options:
Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS
Potenza RE970AS
Continental ExtremeContact DWS

Cheaper option:
Kumho Ecsta ASX

All of those tires are available in 245/40/18

None of these tires compare to a nice set of summer tires. No all season tire, will not be as good in the dry as your stock Dunlops. In my opinion, anything less than the stock Dunlops just isn't doing your car justice. There's a reason STi's don't come with all season tires...

If I were you, I'd buy a second set of wheels and tires for the snow. That way, you can have the best of both worlds. Nice summer tires with lots of grip in the dry and nice snow tires with lots of grip in the snow.

I'm running 245/40/18 ContiWinterContact TS810 S tires in the winer and I just picked up some 275/35/18 Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec's to replace my stock Dunlops for the dry season.

^ Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS is discontinued, so look for some deals on them soon.

I'd also look into some Yokohama Avid Envigor S321

We put Michelin all-seasons on my wife's Forrester last season and I was very impressed with the way they handled the snow. As others say, no all-season tire is going to handle like a summer-only tire.

I had the 960s on another one of the Subies and they were just OK IMO. I would go DWS.

DWS! I've driven my GF's Mazda 3 in the snow with them a ton and it was pretty good, almost as good as the WinterSport 3D's I run on my car. I love having Snow Tires on OEM 16's and Starspecs on 17" wheels. It's so worth it.
