WRX suspension on 96 Impreza

My 96Impreza Outback is over the 120K mark the OEM suspension is making sort of like creaking noises and feels pretty worn out. Would a WRX suspension just bolt on to the car or would it require some significant modifications? If it would work as a bolt on what would I need besides the springs/struts?

Thanks

Anybody? What about the pre-2002 2.5RS?

Ask the guys over at LICmotorsports.com. This is right up their alley.

Any Impreza sedan suspension from '93-04 will work, although the '02+ will require '93-01 rear strut tops. So for example, you could buy really expensive coilovers meant for a bugeye WRX, and put your own rear strut tops on, or you could do something as simple as putting a '98-01 RS set of takeoffs on your car. (Those are identical to world-market base model WRX suspensions FWIW.)

Thank you all for the feedback. I just have a few more questions. Since my car weighs less than the 02+ WRX how would this affect the handling as the springs are stiffer to compensate for heavier weight. (i plan to use the stock 14inch alloys with all weather tires). I would imagine that the control should be better but the tires might break traction easier.
