when i lower my 05 RS with cobb springs and will be runnung 04 sti struts (on there way in the mail) will it bottom out. can i run the stock sti struts or will i need to swap them out for smothing aftermarket?
If you care about performance you should ditch the Cobb springs. They will drop the front 2" and ruin the suspension geometry. If you don't care about performance they will look great so go for it.
Another thing to think about is how STI struts will affect camber in front. I'm using RS or wagon strut bodies with Koni's (can't remember which) on my 02 WRX to gain more negative camber. If there is a difference you may loose some negative camber in front and that is also bad when it comes to performance. If you haven't already you might want to do some research before you install the struts.
I'm not 100% positive about the struts but I think you should definitely look into it.

I'm almost positive 05's won't work because of the knuckle design. Like I said I'm not positive about the 04's and I've never heard that they won't work but I do know there is a difference when it comes to wagons and sedans. When I bought the strut housings for my Koni install I was looking for wagon struts for my sedan but Ron @ Axis told me he thought the struts I bought were off a RS. Those struts allowed me to add a lot of negative camber and assuming they are RS strut bodies I'm thinking there might be a difference. If they are different I'd think you could add a second pair of camber bolts to the front to make up the difference.
I'm just speculating so If you've heard of people running this setup on a RS without camber issues I'd believe them over me since I have no 1st hand experience.
I'm just trying to tell you about some things that MIGHT cause problems.

They will work. I PM'ed Arnie and he said there will be no issues at all. Arnie is very knowledgeable and has a lot of experience with Subaru suspensions. Sorry I got you worried over nothing. I just wanted to warn you of possible issues before the install.
BTW, he also verified that 05 STI struts will not work.

One other thing. The guy in the link you provided made a good point about tops. If you have the $ you might want to upgrade to Group N's. I have a brand new in the box set for the front if your interested.
