Name these springs (add. ?'s)

I bought these today for $100 on Ebay from a guy who was selling V5 struts also (they went for $230-I was gonna get these too, but didn't bid in time)- both w/ 2-3K of use on them. I'm planning to put the springs on my 98 OBS w/ the stock struts. He got the struts/springs as a set online somewhere, and I was trying to figure out what kind they were (he doesn't know for sure) SPT maybe (looks like they might be dirty-dark blue)? They must be progressive if they were w/ the V5 struts... right? Any other ideas?

I know they're not "ghetto-cut" as you said (good term BTW, same one I would use) because I asked him before. From the tone of your post, I sense a little jealousy. I am quite confident I got a good deal, and I think you are trying to make them seem woth less because you chose not to bid on them.

In the words of the wise man from Indiana Jones... "you chose... poorly"

The struts he sold (for $230) were the sti V5 inverted ones with the huge pistons, and he didn't even know what those were. So I'm guessing he has alot more $$$ than car knoledge. With his rating of 85 (100% positive), I think I am safe in looking forward to a quality set of used springs.

I totally agree on the scammer thing, though. The key is determining who is and who isn't gonna ream you. Once again, I asked him about the make of the springs, and he said he got them with the V5 struts from a website. If these turned out to be ghetto-chopped stock springs, it would be the lamest, sorriest scam I'd ever seen.

Does anyone else have any idea as to what kind of springs these might be? I'm still thinking they're the SPT progressive (???)

This is the site they were purchased from http://www.spdusa.com - I cant find the V5 struts on here though (It does say they are closing out parts)- so perhaps these springs are also no longer on the site...?
possibly Eibachs?

If these springs lowered an RS about 1/2 inch, will it lower an OBS even more (I've heard the OBS has stock lift plates)?

Do all Imprezas (OBS) have the factory camber adjustment in the front? If so, will the +-1degree camber be enough, or will I need to buy two new camber kits (front and rear- I know I need the rear kit)? Thanks for any knoledge anyone can share.

I think I found em....

The struts in this pic look exactly like the ones this guy was selling, as do the springs. I'm 90% sure that these are the ones.
So it was somewhat of a bargain (STi springs under $100)... I'm still cursing myself for not getting the struts also.

Question What are these? [better pic]

I know I already posted a thread asking what these are, but I have them now and took a better pic for identification purposes. [stein] Anyone?.... Anyone? [/stein]

Thanks in advance

BTW, I'm putting em on tonite! -Any heads up's for the spring install are welcome And does 14.5 lb/ft for the strut tops and 127 lb/ft for the two bottom bolts sound about right?

...heres the pic

I dont think they are either of those, definitely not the H&R (I havent seen the perrins) Is the paint code a Subaru thing? My initial guess was STi ver? (seeing they were initially purchased in a package with STi struts). Can anyone verify this?

i didn't know sti springs were progressive. i know perrin has that tight coil at the bottom and gets looser as it goes up. i am probably wrong about being h&r or being perrin (just looked closer at the spring on the right and that doesn't look progressive like perrin is)

The struts that were bought with these springs look identical to these, so I am guessing that they are progressive.

Quote from www.subaruwrxparts.com:
"STi V5 Struts (Sedan)
Upgrade to V5 struts. For use with progressive springs (such as Eibach Pro-Kit springs) or your existing RS springs. Set of 4."

Does anyone know anything about the colored paint dots on the springs? (do they just mark the outside?)

I don't think i could ever buy something off of ebay when the seller doesn't identify what it is, whether he knows what it is or not. I guess i'm just paranoid about getting ripped off.

I must say, I had the exact same feeling. However, once I looked at the struts he was also selling (From the pic they were obviously STi inverted struts- only identified by the seller as manufactured by FHI), I thought a bargain may be at hand. All he knew about the springs is that they came with the struts (which I had to email him to find out). If he knew what they were, I'm sure more people would have bid, but since the info was lacking, I took advantage of the situation and got them for the opening bid price.

If you look closely at the last 2 pics I posted, you will notice that the springs in the pics look identical (even the little rubber 'squeak-stop' cover thing is in the same place) Does anyone out there agree with what I think they are? Any other ideas?
