What should I get
What should I get
looking for a 4 wheel kit to replace the stock 03 wrx stuff. I am making 310whp so I was thinking bigger all around. StopTech, Rotora, wilwood? Give me some ideas
apparently everyone ive talked to said that wilwood was just a waste of money...
but stoptech and brembo's seem to be tied for favorites, as long as you actually go BIGGER thatll help you get more brake torque, i think ive heard that the wilwood kit isnt actually bigger

Sorry about the noob question, but you stay away from cross-drilled because it disipitates heats less efficiently and is more likely to crack?
That would happen if you run the car superhot. Get slotted rotors, i'd say bigger isnt always better with brakes and hear me out. Bigger brakes = more weight. The whole idea of brake upgrades is to stop that big, heavy Impreza. Replacing the rotors with same size but slotted seems like a good idea, also stainless steel brake lines would help as well as pads. Try checkin out www.gruppe-s.com

I don't think weight is as big of an issue. I mean... my Impreza L weighs a ton less than most WRX's.
What have you guys heard about Racing Brakes?

Well the later impreza's 01+ chasis was stiffened significantly , increasing handling but adding weight. Compared to all those feather honda's the impreza's are bricks. The only reason we lose to them on the highway is because they are 500lbs or so less then us which makes a big difference. There are alot of variables in modifying brakes, my suggestion keeps in mind that you want to get the best brakes for your money and not add more weight to the car. I like the company Stoptech, its a good bang for your buck. New slotted rotors and good pads will make a nice difference, if you want to take it even further they make brake kits which i hear are also good deals.

Yeah. I know the Stoptech BBK will clear my Rota Subzero's. Gruppe S sells a 1-piece Brembo BBK for $1350, but I don't think they clear my wheels. The Racing Brake BBK's are pretty nicely priced though. I am thinking about doing those when I get the money. Let me pull up the link for you guys.

Yeah. I was looking at the $1250 kit or something. They don't come with the Stainless steel brake lines though.
Another question. What is the difference between one-piece and two piece sets?

Bigger=better is not entirely true. It is somewhat dependant on your cars purpose and the price you can afford. I have had oversized rotors and OEM diameter. The oversized rotors were almost overkill. A good set of slotted rotors and quality pads on all four corners will be more than adequate for daily driving and the occassional auto-cross, not to mention they don't cost an arm and a ********.

When a one piece rotor reaches the end of it's life span you throw it away( if you can't turn it anymore).
The two piece come apart and the rotor can be replaced while keeping the center piece that contacts your hub saving you money in the event of needing new ones. Some of the 2 piece have openings where they bolt together so they get better heat dissipation.
Personally I had the 2 piece on my old car but I have never worn a set of rotors to the point of no return so I couldn't tell you if they are really worth the extra money.
I just got done looking at Racingbrake rotors and probably will wind up getting these:
Slotted front ( RB9004-111 ) 294mm x 24mm
BBK rear ( RB2049-111-011 ) 290mm x 10mm
The BBK for the rear are a great price so I feel that it would be worth the little bit extra I spend. The only concern I have is overbraking. The rears are almost the size of the fronts.
However when I looked at the Stoptech kits, the rears were almost the size of the fronts. One of the bonuses with these two is the fact that they fit under stock rims. I have never used racingbrake so I'm gonna go see if I can find a review. Nope no reviews for these ones.

These may be a good option at a "good" price. The price is still insane but all the BBK's for the front are overpriced, regardless of manufacturer.

and the rear.

navigating the oakos website is like driving into a tree and they don't have much info on each of the kits.
Here are the 2 piece fronts

OMFG! I just looked at the stoptech website for BBK's for front and rear. Every kit they had was 4-5+k for all four corners. No way can I justify that. I think the racingbrakes I listed above would be a good choice.
