track racing suspension
I'm thinking about doing some more track driving with my car (02 wrx fitted out for rallying, for those that don't know me), and the Tein HG's aren't going to cut it.
So, what's some good sets of track coilovers I should be looking at? I'm sure the cusco zero2-r's will be mentioned, and I know that Zeal Superfunctions are quite nice, and there's certainly the possibility of track-valved DMS 50's.
What else though?
I don't give a crap about ride quality, this is going to be for all out speed on a track (think time attack).

Gary Sheehan has had nothing but good things to say about the DMS 50s he had made for his old WRX. Speaking of which, why don't you just buy his old race car with the DMS 50s included?

I don't need another car, sheesh! I already have too many (3)! A spare set of coilovers takes up a lot less space in the shed.

CUSCO's for sure.
I can build you a custom set. With more info on your car, that is doable. Thats what I have on my car now. Plus, you know I will take care of you.

I think the harshness is mainly due to the stock struts (and some from the tires). There's too much highspeed compression damping or too much stiction. This excess damping does not contribute to performance although it makes people feel they are driving a sporty car because it's harsh. Quite the contrary, this harshness contributes to poor performance as it keeps the tires from doing their job of tracking small bumps while cornering, braking or under power.
My gut feeling is that one could run front spring rates in the 500 - 600 lb/in range matched with the right struts without being too harsh. Stiff, yes, but not harsh.
So, the question is: what are those struts?
