Tips for Installing Rear Lateral Links

Hi all.

I am going to be getting my hands on adjustable rear lateral links fairly soon. I was wondering if you guys have any tips on installing them. I definitely want to be prepared. It looks fairly straight forward.

TIA.

Haha. Maybe. I kind of have a cold right now. Don't want to spread it to anyone.

Its pretty straight forward. Only thing to be sure of is to get the toe adjustment back exactly how it was, although if you are putting in adjustable lateral links even that doesnt matter as you will need an alignment. The tow bolt is the inner rear one. I found it easier to remove the inner bolts first, then work on the big outer one.

Of course the first thing to take off is actually the sway bar and also the last thing to put back on.

Yeah. I think it should be pretty straight forward. Probably going to hit all the bolts with PB Blaster half an hour before trying to take them off.

I pulled my lateral links and trailing arms yesterday afternoon and put the stockers back on in about 2 hours. The only hard part is breaking them loose. Make sure you have a breaker bar. You'll also need to compress your suspension/raise the axle in order ot get the bolts out on the front ones. The rear ones are pretty straight foward - just make sure you loosen the nut on the back. You won't be able to turn the adjustment bolt from the front.

Good luck!

Cool. I'll keep that in mind. The breaker bar I have. I am not sure what the torque specs for the bolts are. I think I read somewhere it is 68 ft-lbs or something. I can check though.

Is that long a** bolt suppose to pop when I attack it with a breaker bar?

That is what mine is doing.

You've got wrenches on both ends, right?

It may pop when you break it loose, but after that it should be loose and good to go.

Okay. I think I might need a larger breaker bar.
