i just recently posted a forum about tein lowering springs and if they would clear 18in wheels. now i was wondering if any of you that have tein lowering springs one your 02-03 wrx's (cause thats what i drive). i just wanna see some pictures so i can get an idea of what my car will look like if i chose to use the tein's. it says the drop the car 2inches..do they really go that far? thanks
i'm getting tein's for my 05 and it looks like a great drop (after many hours of homework! heh)
now it's not really whether or not it will clear 18s, it's how wide the tire is. i talked to a guy with perrin springs and he said he had no rubbing at all with his 18x8s. remember perrin's drop the front end about the same as the tein h-tech (not the s-tech). with all that in mind, as long as you're sticking with the h-tech you should be fine with regards to rubbing. hope this helps

i just recently lowered my 03 wrx with tein lowering springs and i it looks pretty good, i'm not sure if it was lowered exactly 2 inches, but almost. it still has a little gap (i could fit 2 of my fingers in between the tire and the fender. sorry i have no pic.

i have teins on my 04. I can only fit one finger in between. After a year or so, they start to sag about 1/4 of an inch and youll only have about 1.5 fingers in betwee the fender gap.
I dont rub or anything (i have 17x8 fn01CR's), but the ride is horrible and it bottoms out a lot.
If you want pics, PM me and ill post them. I am switching them out for some agx's w/ prodrives in about 2 months.

i think you're talking about the s. tech springs. If the s. tech seems too low, you should go with the h. techs, those lower about 1.5 in. I got the h. techs on my 04, and i'm putting some 18x8 volks on, so there shouldn't be any clearance problems.
Just some advice to those looking into the S. Techs... they can be a bit bumpy on the highways and dont nearly SIT into turns like Perrins Tunersport... Perrins are a VERY solid performer IMHO... Similar drop of 1.9/1.5 as well... If you like the drop of the S. Techs, you'll love the Perrin... just a suggestion for you guys who are still considering other options..
Hurray, it's Ian!!

i have the s. tech's, i might be able to get a few pics up soon, but i'm at work right now. the drop is pretty low ( i can fit 2 fingers from tire to fender on stock wheels).
i have a STi v2 front lip too which makes my curbs car unfriendly. the ride is pretty harsh, i thin k my shocks are going out soon.
i am actually looking to get rid of my springs soon, maybe trade for prodrive or eibach's or something.
it's about a 2" drop in the front, and less than .5" drop in the rear. it looks really nice, but i heard it hurts performance somehow...

I ran the S Tech's about a year ago before i switched to Tein Basic coilovers for more drop. They were great springs. Drop was decent with a ride quality good enough to live with for every day driving. I can post old pics of my car with the springs but its with stock wheels not 18's

Here...
are some pics for you that I gathered while doing my spring research..
Sorry they are 04 but the drops are very similar.
1. Blue TEIN 04...S-Techs
2. White 04...H-Techs
3. Prodrives before and after pics...
I know you may want the massive drop but have you considered Prodrive?
I went from STI stock, to Espelir ASD, to TEIN Flex, back to Prodrive springs...to me the Prodrive has the best drop and feel for my type of daily driving...and so far I am very pleased with them...no noise, smooth, and fine for spirited driving...

I put some Tein H-Techs on my 03 WRX, the ride is a little stiffer than stock. I also put Tokico HP (blue shocks) on, so the car doesn't looks as low as a lot of the pics I've seen around. The wheel gap is pretty much even all the way around now, so it doesn't really look like it's been lowered all that much. I did really notice that the brake drive and the squat has disappeared.
