i know there are lots of threads with info on the Teins, and i've read as many as i could find; but here's my deal.
i want to take my handling to the next level, just like everybody else; but i want to be able to take friends out without them asking what is broken or why is it so bumpy for a new car.
i have a chance to get a brand new set of Tein Flex's for just under 1300; are they worth the extra few hundred over a set of springs/struts? is this even a good deal?
can the dampening be softened to the point where most non-car enthusiasts wont be tipped off that there are major mods under the car? Mostly what i've read is that the pillowballs, being metal-on-metal, are the culprit for most of the noise/vibration. i can deal with that; but is does it get annoying for daily driving? (and i know that was a pretty subjective question, with beauty being in the eye of the beholder and all) but is it a good value for someone who spends most of the time driving on the street/highway, not the track.
thanks to all, especially those who tell me what they really think.

why, is that a good deal???
somebody laid down a deposit on a set and never came back for them. the shop told me if i want them, then come this week, otherwise they're going on ebay or something. they're probly tellin me that ebay story to get me to buy them, but heck, if they're legit (not used or something) then i'll take em. from the research i've done, 1300 bucks is a great deal, leaves me enough spendin $$$ to pick up the EDFC.
somebody tell me if they think i'm wasting my $ on the Tein Flex's
thnks

$1300, probably one of the better deals I've heard...definitely worth the money
A friend of mine (who's paying $20,000 a year in Arizona to become an auto mechanic for Ferrari) tells me the Tein or Cusco suspension kits are the way to go...
...by any chance, would the store be willing to sell another for $1300?

tein coil overs are really for track use, but from my research, they are made for street use mostly. it's not gonna feel like a luxary car but it's not gonna feel like you're sitting with a stick up your *** either. it feels good but it also offers good handling. and 1300 is a damn good price. if i had the money, i'd dive right into em.

i got em. saved some bucks and installed myself, i pretty much do that whenever i can. i like to learn as much as possible by actually doing it instead of just listening to what the guy behind the counter says... anyways, here's my initial review:
clunks in the rear
some high-pitched squeal from the front left whenever i turn to the right
bouncy ride
what it does in the twisties makes it all okay though...
i'm not even close to having these things dialed in, and they are impressive, ride quality aside... the car is level all the time, stable through the twisties, and just grips and grips through long sweepers (on freeway onramps maybe...) i dont even have r-compound tyres, and they still totally communicate before they let go. every single time you hear little chirp chirp chirp, and then you start to feel it go a little, and so on. very crisp, me thinks some group N bushings and that cool cusco bottom strut connector thingy would be nice too...
but if anyone has these and can help me set up the spring pretension and stuff, please PM me and i'll send you my specific questions, thanks Bennie

i readjusted all the ride heights and it looks great.
i bought some little rubber squares (about 1/8" thick) at home depot and cut them to fit on top of the rear pillowballs to sort of cushion between them and the car's chassis.
i set the dampeners somewhere in the middle
found and fixed where the front brake dust shield was rubbing the rotor
result:
ride is somewhat better, handling still kicks a$$, and the clunking is a little bit softer, but still definitely there. going for a drive right now to see if the front squeal is gone (should be)
hey fella, what exactly did you mean about wrapping it with rubber??? are you talkin about what i did to the rears, or something else??? thanks for the thoughts and help. Bennie

wait, i missed something. this is what i meant to say.
wrap the rubber on the spring sorta spacing the pieces between every other curl. that would cushion the spring and silent the springy sound that you get when your car starts bouncing. my brother tried that with plastic pieces but that didnt work very well because the plastic couldnt absorb any vibrations.
it is sorta like what you did in the rear, yea. i dont have any pictures but if i did, it'd be easier to understand.
